by jeffjun Most of the casinos are spread around near the center of the city and it is possible to walk from one casino to another. However, there are some casinos that are too far from the center and it may not be easy to reach by walking. The best way to go around the AC, other than walking, is to use Jitney Bus. This little bus operates all over the city and it is most efficient way to get to places in the AC. Theme: Bus

There are many many buses going to Atlantic City like Greyhound and private buses operate by different casinos there. Greyhound will be from NYC Port Authority Bus Terminal (42st & 8 ave). You can find Hilton, Ceasars & Taj Mahal has their own fleet going. I got a ride by car from my friends & it took 2hour 15 min to go there from Manhattan. On my way back, I randomly checked with one of the bus at Ceasears Casino bus terminal and found out they took my tips & let me get on the bus without tickets since they have seats left . I was told Chinatowns in NYC draws the largest crowds to these casinos in Atlantic City. My friend told me Hilton Atlantic City offers Round trip bus fare from chinatown sales center for $18 and about $22 cash to play plus $20 match-play coupons to attract players. Some other casinos give food coupons from chinatown plus $10 chips to play. The buses are usually not well maintained but for budget travelers, its a good option to use. In my case, its cheaper than riding Greyhound . Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

AC has a tradition of little blue, 13 passemger buses called Jitneys. For $1.50 US you can go anywhere in the city. Cabs are $8 anywhere in the city and NJ transportation is $1.10 anywhere in the city. You can also walk, ride a rolling chair or bicycle too. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Trolleys by tpangelinan Another way to get around is these trolleys, you see them every where, so flag one down and go for a ride instead of walking. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

A Jitney, is a small bus that seats 13 people. It is air conditioned, and it is very inexpensive. They run 24/7 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) Its a great alternative to the bus, or car. When you are in Atlantic City, you can not miss them. They are light blue and have a little design on the side. They stop everywhere, and cost about 1.50 to ride them anywhere you want (in atlantic city). Quoted From actourism.org (find link below) : The term jitney is an old English term meaning "nickel." Around the turn of the century, many Jitney services sprung up throughout the country. The Atlantic City Jitney Association started in 1915 and today ranks as the longest running non-subsidized transit company in America. the first Jitney Bus arrived in 1947, replacing the black touring cars that used a rope and pulley system to open the back doors. Today's version is a 13-seat bus. Atlantic City Jitneys are individually owned and operated. they run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The new Atlantic City Jitney, a state-of-the-art, air-conditioned vehicle will have replaced the antiquated white and blue-striped vehicle. All are wheel chair equipped. The Atlantic City Jitney Association is committed to Atlantic City and is actively involved in the community. They sponsor the Atlantic City Hall of Fame, honoring Atlantic City's finest citizens.

Jitney Bus from http://iris.nyit.edu by OCNJBritt The Jitney is AC's reliable means of transportation. Catch a blue Jitney bus every twenty minutes or so on any corner fof Pacific Ave. for a minimal cost of $2 and hop off when you want. It runs from the casinos downtown to the Marina district and down to the neighboring town Ventnor. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

When in Atlantic City everything is very close, and just a short cab or jitney ride away. A Jitney is only 1.50 and is the fastest way through AC. Or a cab ride is $6.00 anywhere in Atlantic City. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

While there are plenty of 'bus tours' available to haul people down from nearly any city within 200 miles, I found a car to be a great way to get around. You can rent cars at reasonable rates and drive around town with out much ado (just standard traffic). If you plan on going to Newark or New York City as a primary destination, then you may want to skip the car or just rent it for your duration in Atlantic City and to and from Newark or New York City. In those cities, public transportation is much more convenient. Far too many cars to compete with for road space plus you have particularly aggressive drivers and potholes that tend to be worse than in my home city of Cleveland (which is a remarkable feat indeed).
