Police on quads by tpangelinan You may want to behave yourself here, the cops are all over, even on quads on the boards. Just in case you do some thing wrong and you run on the beach they will be right behind you! So be careful and fly right around here. Don't get me wrong we saw plenty on drunks on the boardwalk and not being bothered, they were just loud not out of line. So you can get away with some fun. Leave a Comment

The city is being transformed daily from a rundown Queen into a glittering Princess, but like every city, going out in certain areas after dark will always be a little risky. Use your common sense and AC will be a safe, fun place to visit. Leave a Comment

AC is not a family resort, you will see your "ladies of the evening" on Pacific Ave., we have totally nude bars, a x-rated movie theater and even a swingers club, but are billed as a adult resort, and not a family town. Even our motto, "Always turned on" makes us sound a little naughty and we are! You come to AC for fun, not to entertain the kids. Go to Ocean City and Wildwood for tamer pleasures. Leave a Comment

Nude shows by tpangelinan Another thing that really bothered us was the amount of peep shows and adult book stores in this town. This could be rather disturbing if you have small children. The type of places are all over the city with bright neon. Leave a Comment

Run down by tpangelinan There are some bad ares in this town, really run down homes, ready to fall down. We saw several complexes that had large portions of the building missing just blocks away from all the casinos. Didn't feel to safe in this part of town. Leave a Comment

I lived in the Atlantic City area and worked at the former Bally's Grand Hotel and Casino, now the Hilton for 3 years. I loved my job, and I really didn't run into too many real problems, but that's because I knew the trouble areas and to stay away from them. At night, if you're not from A.C., you don't want to leave the casino area unless you know where you're going and you're in a car. Stay on the Boardwalk if you're going outside, and only go out during the earlier evening hours, when there's still people out. Don't talk to the homeless people, and don't give them money. The panhandlers on the Boardwalk have enough, they don't need yours, and they might rob you if you get out your wallet. Don't go out the front doors of the casinos onto Pacific Avenue. And while you're on the Boardwalk, location really does matter. The end where the Showboat and Resorts are is also the end that's nearest the housing projects. The end where the Hilton is is very near Ventnor, which is where the wealthy people live. The Hilton end is the safer end. If you do go driving through town, say to go over to Trump Castle or the outlet malls, keep your doors locked. (Is the Castle still there? It's been a while.) Anyway, to get there, you'll have to drive through some ghettos. If you are at a stop light and you see people walking toward your car, floor it. If people wander out in front of your car, don't stop. They'll get out of your way. All this said, did I have any real trouble while I lived there? No. We lived on California Avenue for a while before moving to Brigantine, and our neighbors weren't rich. They were also a mix of whites, blacks and Puerto Ricans (we're white) and we all worked at the casinos. Oh, yeah, don't ask the hotel workers where the good local spots are. AC residents don't like tourists that much and sometimes the workers will tell the tourists really nasty spots just to keep them away from the good places. When you have to work with tourists all day you tend to not want them around you at night.

No cats here by penumbra Signs in the Downbeach (south end) district of the Boardwalk: “Please do not feed the Atlantic City Boardwalk Cats. We appreciate your concern, but unscheduled feedings hinder our ability to help the cats. The Cat Action Team (C.A.T.) or Atlantic City is helping the cats through a humane and non-lethal population control program.” It must be working… I’ve never seem any cats along the Boardwalk. Now if someone would do something about pigeons and seagulls. Maybe if there were some cats around? Hey, wait a minute! Leave a Comment

Dunes (looking south from the Hilton) by penumbra The United States Army Corps of Engineers recently brought in 4.5 million cubic yards of sand, 90 acres of dune grass and 64,000 feet of sand fence as part of a storm protection project for Atlantic City. The new dunes are between the beach and the Boardwalk. They’re completely fenced off and there are pedestrian bridges over the dunes every block. There isn’t any reason to be on the dunes and you can expect a $1,000 fine if you’re caught. Leave a Comment

Like with any other city, you have a problem with crime, ie. pickpockets, etc. Use public transportation at night, and ladies, don't walk alone. Leave a Comment

The only parts of AC that I know are the boardwalk and the casino's. I hope I don't offend anyone but I personally think it's a dump. The beaches are dirty, the boardwalk is scummy, there are 'not so good people' everywhere, I don't feel safe, the streets are kinda scary and the people are rude. I guess what I'm saying is...stop in see the casino's (they are on the boardwalk so you can go out to see the nasty beach too if you want) but in general, be careful. Leave a Comment
