    Dizzy's: Sail Away Fun

    by cjg1 Updated Mar 5, 2009

Dizzy's is one of the bar/lounges on board. It's on top of the ship with panoramic views. So with a nice seat with a view and dacquiris in hand we enjoyed the view. It was great sitting her asthe ship sailed under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. It was incredible how tall the ship was..it looked as if we would barely fit under at one point. Unfortunately Dizzy's is a smoking area so we only spent a short time here for sail away.

Casino Royale: If you're feeling lucky.............

We walked through the casino on our first day while still in port. The casino doesn't open until we are out of port and a certain mileage from land. The casino is a nice place until it opens and the smoke fills the area. Liz and I are not gamblers so we are never found here and we cannot stand smoking.

It's a nice place if gambling is your thing and you don't mind the smoke.

Maharajah's: Lounge with an Indian Vibe

Maharaja's is a nice lounge right off of the Royal Promenade. During the day, Bingo and the Art Auction is held here. At night it is a dance club. The lounge has a nice Indian vibe to it and has a nice size dance floor. There are windows at either side of the lounge with nice ocean views.

The first time we were here a wedding had just taken place and they were cleaning up the rose petals from the floor. It was a nice and interesting setting for a wedding in my opinion.

Aquarium Bar: Drink Like a Fish?

Me & Liz before the smoke filled the Bar...

The Aquarium Bar was a nice spot on the ship. There were huge aquarium tanks filled with coral and tropical fish. The couches and chairs were comfy with nice views from the large portholes. This seemed like a nice place to hang out until the Casino opened and the smoke began filtering into the Aquarium Bar. On that note we finished our drinks and escaped the smoke for some fresh air.

The Champagne Bar: Relaxing with some Bubbly

We love the Champagne Bar and frequent it often. Liz's favorite beverage is champagne so I love to indulge her. The Champagne Bar has a varity of champagne, white wines, red wines and other alchololic beverages. You will not find soda or frozen drinks in this bar nor will you find children(Thank God). We always have good service here and love the champagne.

The bar itself is deorated in seafoam green and peachy neutrals. They have couches and tables to relax and enjoy your drinks. Liz and I love to come here before or after (sometimes both) dinner to enjoy some champagne. The staff puts a nice plate of appetizers on the atble to accompany the champagne which I think is a nice touch especialy the chocolate covered strawberries.

We loved coming here because the service was so great. The main bartender Chris made us feel so comfortable and welcome. He was the first person onboard to congratulate us on our engagement and bring us some fabulous champagne to toast the event.

On Explorer of the Seas the Champagne Bar has a Champagne card for purchase. You can get 10 champagne or champagne drinks for $50. Needless to say we went through alot of cards.

    Schooner's: Relaxing with some drinks

Liz and I enjoying our time at Schooner's

Schhoner's is one of the bar lounges we like to frequent. The loung has some nice comfy chairs and couches; prefect for relaxing with a drink. At night they have music and karaoke. Schooner's has a nautical theme to it with pictures of old sailing ships and other sea memorabilia.

The service is always good and they make you feel at home. Liz and I like to relax here with a drink and listen to the music.

Schhoner's also is one of the Wi-fi areas of the ship and Liz can always get a good internet connection here. The cruise staff became accustomed to seeing her at a couch doing school work on her laptop late at night. They were very nice and made sure she wan't bothered and her club soda or dacquiri glass was always full.

The Crowne & Kettle is the ships version of an English Pub. This was a favorite hangout for us. The bartenders Marley and Ellis were fabulous and so friendly. We enjoyed hanging out and talking with them while having some drinks.
