On the outskirts of Bridgeton, in Hopewell Township, Shiloh, etc, major roads are skirted by farm markets selling locally grown produce. The Bridgeton area is especially known for it's orchards- apple and peaches especially. DeCou's peaches are a local favorite.

The New Sweden Homestead is a small homestead museum in Bridgeton/Cohanzick park next to the zoo. I've never been, although I've driven past it a ton of times. It's a popular destination for local school field trips. Frankly looks boring, but if you have Swedish Heritage the experience may be meaningful for you.

    A quote from the website:
In 1983 the new New Sweden Company formed in Historic Bridgeton, honoring the original by taking its name, to re-create a 17th century Swedish/Finnish farmstead. The endeavor was assisted by a technical team that came from Sweden to supervise construction, assuring authenticity of the structures, fireplaces, chimneys, and the furnace for the Blacksmith Shop."

Although there were populations of Swedes who settled in NJ, I do not think Cumberland County is one of the places where they settled. It has always mystified me as to why this outdoor museum is here.

Open only on Saturday and Sunday.
    Small admission fee.

    Woodside Nursery

Woodside Nursery is a must see for anyone who loves flowers. Woodside is one of the top 10 daylily growers in the country. The nursery is only open to the public during peak bloom times during the summer. On special days there are workshops and tours, but for the most part I just go to wander (and spend a ton of money!) Visit the webisite for a schedule of events. You won't believe how amazing this place is, the photos don't do it justice. See it for yourself.

Call for directions. The friendly staff will be happy to help.
