The people running the USS New Jersey and conducting the tours are veterans, so they have a lot of good information, that they're more than happy to share if you chat them up. While on the tour, you can go off by yourself and explore, but you will miss the interesting little tidbits of information that the guide can tell you, like that the ship has 4 different areas from which you can navigate it, so even though it's hit in one place, it is still operational. Everything on the ship has double or triple uses, like the dining room which can be converted into a hospital, with surgery lights already mounted above the tables.

The only thing that is a real tourist trap is 4D “Sponge Bobs” show .It’s costly, extremely short and not very interesting episode even for ones who loves BOB .
Fun Alternatives: Franklin Museum has the greatest in Philly IMAX theater

Miscellaneous: We brought our own sandwiches and water in a little lunch bag/cooler since the tour is long and there's no cafe on the ship. Also, bring student ID if you have it, to get a reduced rate at the Aquarium. At the USS New Jersey there's no student rates. For prices, see my Must See Activities.

Those visiting the Philadelphia area may well enjoy watching a professional baseball game, either because they themselves love baseball or because they recognize it is a deeply ingrained part of sports life in the USA. Although the Phillies provide baseball at is best, tickets are expensive -- if there are ANY available! A delightful alternative is the Camden Riversharks, a minor-league club that plays in Campbell's Field, just a short walk from Adventure Aquarium. All seats, even those right behind home plate, are $10, so you can get right next to the players for less than the cheapest ticket to the Phillies. Food is similarly less expensive. Anyone who wants to, can get to meet their mascot, "Finley" the Shark.

discusses several ways to get to Campbell's Field, but I'll add one more. For day games, you can ride a bus from the Philadelphia Visitor Center to Adventure Aquarium for $2 round trip. Note that this shuttle stops running from Camden at 5:30 (6:30 on weekends), so it's not an option for night games. PATCO, however runs 24 hours a day.
You won't see Ryan Howard crash a monster home run, but you will see a professional baseball game for a lot less cost and trouble than doing so for the Phillies.
