The Washington Inn is an elegant 1840's Plantation style home. Summer dining can be enjoyed from the patio while cozy fireside seating greets you in the cooler seasons. We invited my father and his wife to join us at The Washington Inn on the occasion of their visit to New Jersey. It is a special place to come with special people. Entrees like Panseared Filet Mignon or Tournedos of Pork Diane are prepared carefully to your taste.
Hours vary seasonally, so call for more information and reservations. We would recommend The Washington Inn for dinner anytime to make your dining a memorable event! It's been featured on tv for its sumptuous meals and lovely decor!
This is a truly lovely fine dining restaurant. My only trouble with it would be the 'garden room' (as I call it) which was ridiculously loud for a fine dinig experience (even after 8pm at night) and the lighting was terrible. HOWEVER....if you can get over that, the food was great, and the sommelier was our server when we had dinner, he was very atentive (even though I did not ask him for wine advice, i like to try for myself). We went back for drinks this year and our bartender Marty was GREAT! We may have been the only people in this romantic beautiful bar that were there JUST for the drinks, but we ended up having a better time than anywhere else we had been for drinks. We were disappointed that our feet were sore from walking that far from our hotel (we don't drink and drive) and we couldn't return a second night last trip.
Favorite Dish: When we went in 2055 I had the 'Pork Tornadoes'. Simply Exquisite. I had a tropical martini in 2006 that Marty lit on fire and I convinved 3 other people at the bar to get it (not too sweet, four different kinds of rum, HEAVENLY).
The wine list is also great (hence they have a sommelier!)
A cozy restaurant situated in Cape May, NJ, The Washington Inn offers a cozy atmosphere in what appears to be a neighborhood house off a main street. (Bathroom located on second floor is a converted guest bedroom!) The seating is ample but cozy, and waitstaff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Famous items off their menu include their pan-seared filet mignon, butter poached lobster tail, and their hazelnut crusted rack of lamb.
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish is the pan-seared filet mignon. It comes in a caramelized shallot-barley rissoto, creamy carrot puree and sauce bordelaise ($31). Simply delicious- grilled to perfection on the outside, tender and soft on the inside.
Cape May Popcorn serves caramel corn. Cape May Pizza offers pizza, sandwiches & smoothies.
Golden Gull has a large selection of jewelry.
Favorite Dish: Winter Hours:

Dating back to 1840, this quiet plantation house setting houses an award-winning kitchen with an eclectic menu.
Favorite Dish: Escargot flamed with Pernod, finished with toasted hazelnuts, tomatoes and cream served in a puff pastry shell.
