We came across this lovely shop by chance, stopping at this candy coloured row to take a photo while on the way back to town from Higbee Beach. It’s a real delight: a shop that clearly reflects the passion of its owner for all things “birdy”. In a town that’s known for the wide range of birds it attracts and is a Mecca for bird-watching enthusiasts, a shop devoted to “backyard birding” is a natural fit. There are bird houses and feeders galore, books about birding and wildlife in general, decorative items for the garden and home and other nice gifts.
What to buy:
We aren’t particularly keen bird watchers but nevertheless loved poking around here and found a couple of nice gifts to take home for family, including a transparent bird feeder that slicks to a window (perfect for my partially sighted father in law who can no longer enjoy the birds at a distance, and only $10) and some lovely naturally scented soap.
