The Shady Rest is an unassuming place with local flair on Rt. 9 in Bayville, NJ. We come here every time we visit , it's always one of the highlights of our trip.
There aren't lots of tables but I've never seen it that busy. The tables are big for those who like to order a lot- like us. I like to sit near the fish tank and watch the fish attack each other. Service is good and relaxed. This is a local restaurant with lots of regulars.
The Shady Rest has a lot on the menu.
They offer a wide variety of delicious Italian and American and cuisines, including appetizers, homemade soups, salads, and entrees such as veal, spaghetti marinara, cheese ravioli, stuffed shells, manicotti, cheese lasagna, veal Marcela, chicken Françoise, filet of flounder, shrimp parmigiana, mussels marinara, and other delectable choices such as meatball sandwiches, pizzas, hamburgers, seafood

Favorite Dish: Best NACHOS ever!!
Mmmm GARLIC BREAD
MUSSELS- Cory always gets at least one dish of mussels, sometimes even two different presentations!
CHICKEN FRANCOISE or FLOUNDER - Karen's faves

Can you spot the tree nymph?
3 more images

Favorite thing: While walking in Double Trouble State Park Cory swore he spotted a Dryad. Cory is highly supernaturally attuned and although I did not see this tree nymph, I can definately see something in the pictures.

The Dryad appeared as a naked woman. She was moving until she realized someone was looking at her and then she froze in place.

The figure can be seen in the first picture. In the distance notice what at first appears to be a white tree in a group of brown ones. In the third picture is the zoomed in copy of this picture. See if you can detect this figure. One arm is up in the air. You can see a hint of breasts and legs, suggesting a female form.

The second picture was taken only seconds later. Notice the figure is no longer there. You are able to see an oval shaped orb.
I've zoomed in on this picture to show it's clearly changed from seconds before. (Fourth picture)
