  • I've been here three times and I have to admit the place kind of disgusts and intrigues me at the same time. Don't get me wrong, the food is very good, but the portions, which have become famous, are ridiculously big. You'll walk in to this appropriately huge restaurant and immediately notice the cakes in the fridges to your left. They are about 20 inches tall!! Also, when you look around, you're sure to notice some people in here that look like they eat here every day.

There is a free pickle and bread bar that you can go to and add to your plate before your sandwich comes. The deli sandwiches come in 13 or 26 ounce sizes and the 13 ounce is definitely more than enough for two people. I had the pastrami sandwich twice and it's great. I also had an ham, egg and cheese sandwich that was good.

Ashoka: Gotta have some Indian food

  • Ashoka is a good north Indian restaurant located just off of Oak Tree Road in a little strip mall on Marconi Avenue. The food here is excellent and not too expensive and the service is attentive. We were here for dinner, but at lunch they have a buffet.

We ordered a number of dishes here to allow and shared plates and everything was good. Try Chicken Tikka if you're not used to Indian food. If you are, get a little more daring and try something new.

Dosai Express: More Indian food- South Indian style
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • My buddy Tom and I decided to try some South Indian food. Dosai Express is a fast food sort of place serving mostly Dosai (the large crepe looking thing on Tom's plate) and Idli (another South Indian specialty made of rice and lentils). It's very basic inside, but packed with Indians.

We had a two Dosais, some idly and some vada. All were good and very cheap.

    Menlo Park Diner: Diner
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • If you're looking for some basic diner food (think club sandwiches, burgers, waffles, eggs . . .), then the Menlo Park Diner isnt' a bad option. It's located in exactly what you'd expect from a diner, a long, retro looking place with booths and tables and a cashier up front.

I had an omelette, which was decent if not great.

Mughal Express & Ming: Authentic Indian Style Chinese Food in America!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Mughal Express on Oak Tree Road and the upscale Ming (across the street in the shopping center) both owned by the Mathanis serve the most authentic Indian style Chinese food in the USA. I fly all the way East every now and then just to eat this delicious food.

Mughal Express serves stand-up Chinese fast food (with other types of food as well) and Ming serves sit-down Chinese only food in elegant surroundings. The food is cooked by Chinese chefs who grew up in India and cooked for some of India's finest Chinese restaurants.

The chili-garlic noodles and "anything" (chicken, vegetables, etc) Manchurian.

"Bangkok Cuisine" Thai Restaurant: Fragrant Entrees

  • We were out grocery shopping at our local Shop Rite, we decided to stop someplace for lunch before going Home. We walked by this Thai Restaurant and looked at the Menu, we had never had Thai food before and heard that it was spicy and hot, well the menu showed both and that they had meals that didn't look like they would be too spicy or hot.

We found out upon entering that this is a second Bangkok Cuisine Restaurant; the first is on 8th Ave in Manhattan. The dining room is full of light with a gigantic fish tank full of exotic tropical fish (I kept looking for Nemo). The waiter brought us glasses of water and the menu, we went with the lunch special menu, any of 16 entrees all priced by what you want in your meal, Chicken$6.95, Beef $7.95 & Shrimp $8.95. All meals come with Jasmine Rice (except noodle dishes), Thai Spring Roll or Soup or Salad.

We both had a fragrantly delicious Soup called Tom Ka Gai, it's a combination of chicken with coconut milk, lime juice, onion & straw mushrooms. I've never had anything like it before, it was a shame to eat, I just wanted to sit and smell it all day.
The entrees came with fresh brewed tea that was full of flavor, my Wife had Gai Pad Pak, sautéed chicken with mixed vegetables and garlic, I had Pad Thai Chicken, stir fried noodles, chicken, egg, bean curd, bean sprouts, and ground peanuts. Both dishes were served communal style so we could easily sample each others entrees.

The food was wonderful and the service was attentive.

The Soup called Tom Ka Gai, it was just out of this world.
