Favorite thing: Fans of HBO's 'The Sopranos' television series will be thrilled by a visit to Hackensack. Although the show's stories take place in towns located southwest of the city, quite a bit of the actual filming is done in and around Hackensack.
Fondest memory: According to the excellent and fully comprehensive Web site 'Sopranos On Location' at http://sopranosonlocation.4t.com/ the following locations in the Hackensack area appear in 'The Sopranos':
Satin Dolls nightclub on Route 17 South is the real 'Bada Bing'; it's located near the Party Box which is a party supplies store seen in one episode. One of the real-life Satin Dolls dancers, Justine Noelle, was even selected to become a member of the 'Sopranos' cast. Be sure to watch for Justine during the 'Bada Bing' scenes; she's the lovely lady with the red hair!
The Tri-Boro Diner located on Essex Street on the Lodi border and also the Hackensack Gardens apartment complex at the corner of Essex Street and Arcadia Road.
Solari's Restaurant on River Street opposite The Record (newspaper), just north of the Bergen County Courthouse.
In nearby Paramus, other scenes were filmed along Paramus Road at Bergen Community College, the Old Mill Bathing Beach (swim club) and the El Cid Restaurant (a nightclub that has changed names many times over the years).
Please visit the Sopranos On Location site for updates!

Favorite thing: Here's the world-famous Olympic figure skater Sarah Hughes. Did you know that she commuted all the way from her home on Long Island -- two hours each way, six days a week -- to train at the Ice House located on Midtown Bridge Approach in Hackensack? Now that's dedication! Congratulations, Sarah!!
