Entrance to Donaldson Park, Highland Park, NJ

The largest park in Highland Park is called Donaldson Park. It is about a mile long and within it one finds tennis courts, a play ground, baseball and softball fiels, basketball courts, soccer field, boating ramp, and community gardens. Donaldson Park is also home to a number of indegenous NJ wildlife species (like Blue Jays, Grey Squirrels, Robins, and more). Also you find a very large number of Canada geese residing here. It's location alongside the Raritan River and the pond within it make it a great location for migratory birds. Also, you may encounter a heron from time to time.

Also, Donaldson Park offers a great location for viewing the 4th of July fireworks. Every year, visitors are entertained with an array of colors in the dark midnight blue sky! It gets crowded so get there early! The fire works are fired from close to Boyd Park in New Brunswick so aim to be by the basketball courts!

Corner Confectionary of Highland Park, New Jersey

The Corner Confectionary is the most popular Ice Cream Shop in Highland Park. They make their own ice cream and have a decent selection of flavors. I've never been disappointed with the choices I've made. The prices are a bit high, but it is home-made afterall!

They also sell chocloates and gourmet coffees... but the Ice Cream is definitely their strongsuit!

Favorite Dish: The Pistachio and Chocolate flavors are both excellent!

    Charlie Brown's Steakhouse!

Charlie Brown's is a chain that offers the diner an array of typical American dishes. They are best known for their steaks so I suggest you stick to that! Their food is good and you won't be disappointed if you visit.

Favorite Dish: New York Strip...medium rare of course!

The food is good, but except for breakfast it is extremely overpriced. The service is awful and all the waitresses are incredibly rude. Ordering out takes a minimum of 20 minutes, with no apologies. This is standard, not an isolated incident. When I tried calling to speak with the manager about a particularly rude employee, I was hung up on not once but twice.
I worked in a restaurant and I know this is not the way to run a business. Do not eat here if you want a pleasant dining experience.
