The Ship, Milford locals hot spot, is a refreshing change from the chain restaurants with their faux theme decor and manufactured menus. The place is decorated with authentic nautical furnishings from the tables made of ship hatchboards to handmade ship models. The menu is original and while the prices arent' the cheapest, you get value for money. Be prepared to take home a doggy bag because you can't enjoy a couple of pints and finish your meal. Milford is a quaint little town on the Delaware River not yet over run with touristy shops. A good bakery, one antique store, market, florist shop, pharmacy etc. all you need for a quiet weekend retreat. The Ship has a pretty little creek with an unpronouncable name on one side and a couple of blocks to the Delaware on the other. This is certainly one of Hunterdon's best kept secrets and the locals, though very friendly, want to keep it that way!

Favorite Dish: The organic chicken curry, the homemade bread roll, ribbon fries, hot wings, hot wings and fish and chips

The Lovin' Oven: I've got love in my tummy

located in the small town of Milford NJ, the Lovin' Oven has fast become a local favorite for breakfast and lunch. This small cafe style restaurant offers limited seating and an atmosphere that might remind of you of a local spot in the islands. Mike & Julie (owners) serve up the only the freshest of fresh in their homemade creations. From a daily fresh pressed juice, to fluffy omeletes with, local fresh pork sausage, homemade soups, salads, and gourmet sandwhiches like Roasted Turkey breast on homemade bread with cheddar cheese and granny smith apples or the Avacado BLT -- this was my personal favorite until i tried the Tuna Melt with Swiss Cheese & Avacado fresh baked bread with a touch of herb mayo. If you have room for dessert, Julie never dissapoints with her home baked creations; cookies, pies and more.
The Lovin' Oven is open for breakfast and lunch only - closed Tuesdays. this is a do not miss for tourists/visitors and a visit as often as possible destination for locals.

Favorite Dish: served on fresh bread:
Avacado BLT
Tuna Melt with Swiss & Avacado
Roasted Turkey with Cheddar & Granny Smith Apples

Thai Carrot Soup

Gingerbread Cookies with Pumpkin Custard

Former pastry chef at Le Cirque opened this bakery and sells organic whole-grains rolls and breads to the public. Often found in restaurants and health food shops but here, it's fresh.

Favorite Dish: Bread. Just good bread.
