The Old Oar House Brewery: A Rare Jewel

by asturnut Updated Apr 4, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Old Oar House is a nice pub located downtown Millville. It is a lovely old restored building with tin ceilings, and a gorgeous old fashioned hardwood bar. It's clean and has that really cool old Irish feel. There's even a little beer garden outside for the warm weather. The menu states that it is modeled after the Irish themed pubs located in nearby Philadelphia. It's a pretty accurate description in the sense that it looks Irish (European) but doesn't serve any Irish food. They do however have Guiness on tap, so I guess that counts for something. They have about 10 microbrews, about 6 beers on tap and domestic bottled too. There's a modest selection of affordable wine. Lot's of tasty treats to choose from while you enjoy live local music at night. Nothing raucous, just good tunes.

The Oar House is very popular, so it's always busy. It's a place where young and old alike are comfortable. There's no brawling or drunks hanging around. It's popular with respectible people without being snooty. I should mention that the other authentic European thing about the Oar House is it's very tight. If you plan to go on a busy weekend night, get there early or you will not be able to get a seat anywhere. (During the day it's busy, but you can find a table.)

    BoJo's Ale House: BoJo's

by asturnut Written Jan 27, 2005

BoJo's is a relatively new addition to High Street. It's very popular with the 20-30 something crowd and sports fans. I've seen bus loads of football fans unload at this place to watch the game and eat. Not my kinda place, but lots of people love it. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights they have live entertainment.

    Texas Roadhouse: Roadhouse goings on

by asturnut Written Jan 29, 2005

The national chain the Texas Roadhouse just opened up on the edge of town and it is jumping. Can't get a table to save you. Haven't been yet, but the lines are always long and folks are raving about it. They say the eats are good and the atmosphere is festive and fit for dancing. I'm not a fan of country music and I don't eat slabs of bovine, but I'd be willing to check this place out so I can report back to ya-
