The Arty Side Of Red Bank

by VeronicaG Updated Feb 22, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Fondest memory: Red Bank is popular for its Jazz in the Park summer series, George Sheehan races and Cruisin' with the Oldies at Marine Wharf park, but a unique element of its appeal for me (aside from the oh-so trendy shops) is the artistic touch which livens various areas of town.

There are several murals in Red Bank that I really like. This one highlights Juanito's restaurant, in the proximity of Red Bank train station.

    Neighborhood Mural--Part 1

by VeronicaG Updated Feb 22, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: This realistic painting beautifies the side of this building and adds an artistic flair to what would be a dull exterior.

Anyone driving by would think at a glance that a live painter is laboring on this wall! The subtle colors and everyday scene fits in well with the area. (Shrewsbury Avenue and Drs. Parker Street).

    Jack's Music Shoppe--Rear Entrance Mural

by VeronicaG Updated Feb 22, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

English Plaza off White Street, Red Bank, N.J.

Favorite thing: Although I have Jack's in my shopping tips, I wanted to include it in the murals I've photographed, also. I just love this mural painted on the rear of the building--it would have been such a blank and boring expanse otherwise.

You are looking at a flat wall, yet the perspective seems otherwise. A great piece!

Mural on West Front Street, Red Bank

by VeronicaG Updated Feb 22, 2007

    Lovely riverside mural

Favorite thing: Red Bank is dotted with these creative murals--I just loved finding them all for this travel page. These art pieces add so much to the streetscape.

They are scattered about to enhance different sections of the town. They serve to punctuate Red Bank's art community.

    Riverside Park Mural

by VeronicaG Updated Feb 22, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: This is another view of the mural livening up Red Bank's Riverside Park. The artists realized I was taking their photo and were kind enough to pose while I tried to capture the essence of the scene.

Red Bank's murals accent the town, adding an artistic touch to what would be a very plain view otherwise. The town depicted in the mural draws on the style of existing buildings in the area of the park.

    Neighborhood Mural--#2

by VeronicaG Updated Feb 22, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: This is a continuation of Neighborhood Mural #1. The live plantings give an authentic look to the scene. While the young girl teetering on the wall generates interest, the sidewalk beckons the viewer to come and enjoy a walk in the park. (Shrewsbury Avenue and Drs. Parker Street--Red Bank)

    by feline01 Written Oct 4, 2002

Favorite thing: Visit during one of their many festivals including a yearly Irish festival, jazz festival, Riverfest and more.

Fondest memory: Spending an evening at the Internet Cafe with my hubby listening to Scott Hathaway perform. He is a local musician who can play the heck out of a guitar.
