Everything is good, and the rice is perfect. I have had sushi in Japan--this is just as good if not better!! Try the Rainbow Roll, and of course, sit at the sushi bar to watch him make it. P.S. I love this place because I see everyone I know (kind of like Cheers, where everybody knows your name), listen to Sinatra music which plays constantly, AND get a great cheesesteak. Trust me, forget about Philly cheesesteaks. This is not chopped thin meat slivers---you get an entire steak on crispy French bread. You need to have a cheesesteak here. Don't go for the burgers or anything else. Just...you know what.
You know what to order, right? This restaurant serves New Orleans and Creole dishes. It's in a house, so the atmosphere is homey with eclectic furnishings. They can turn the heat up as you like it--regarding the entrees, not the house!! For example, one of my favorites, the etouffee, rates about a 6 on the spicy-hot scale.
Try the alligator sausage with tiger sauce. Yum! Leave a Comment

I actually drive 70 miles to Hoboken to get good bread, fresh mozzarella, and Italian pastries. Well, okay, I do stop and visit family, too, while I'm there. If you're in Hoboken, there are so many places to get good food, and not just in restaurants. The delis have Italian food products, and most make fresh mozzarella. I always stop at Antique Bakery for bread and pizza dough. I usually can't pass up the smoked mozzarella at Fiore's, either. Hoboken is only one square mile, so stroll around and enjoy! Breanna's is a popular little local restaurant that serves authentic Italian food.. and they pride themselves on frequently preparing special requests. My son's in-laws own the building, so they go for dinner often and are treated with extra care and attention. You have the option to bring your own wine, and a family member makes his own red wine..that's what we enjoy when we go. On this visit I had crab cakes w/ roasted potatoes and some wonderful rabbi w/ garlic. Everyone seemed pleased with their choices. Prices are generally between $12 and $18 for an entre. Try their fried Calamari for an appetizer! yum. Fairly good variety of decadant deserts...and of course, cappucino. Leave a Comment

The Nautilus is known to all the college kids in the area of Madison. (There are actually about 3 colleges close by). Classic breakfast and burger specials with late night hours, make it a favorite spot for the party crowd. Decor is lacking somewhat, but you can get your fill of "comfort" food...cheap. We first discovered Pete and Elda's when our grandson's travel baseball team met here for pizza after a tournament. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this restaurant produces the best pizza I've ever tasted. The pizza comes from "Carmen's Pizzeria" which is located within the restaurant. We came to learn that Pete and Elda's has been officially voted BEST PIZZA many times! We always order a thin crust pizza with mushroom and pepperoni. It's crispy and delicious; the cheese and sauce are enough but not too much. Everything blends to create a fantastic meal! Although we don't live very close to the restaurant, we make the drive to pick up pizza from Pete and Elda's often. It is remarkably delicious. Pete and Elda's serve many other entrees and 20 different appetizers in their restaurant and have a booming business, especially on the weekends. They are open until 1:15 am.
Their pizza is incomparable! A large pizza with mushroom and pepperoni costs $12.72. Theme: AmericanPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: On Highway #35, Neptune City, New JerseyPhone: 732-774-6010

At my first time here (30 December 1999), I had Greek food at lunch in Union Station on the way up. Therefore, I had a genuine desire to take supper at a simple American diner. The thought first occurred to me on seeing the New Ideal Diner (at which I have since eaten) on pulling out of Aberdeen, Maryland. On Deb's return, we set out for the Duchess Diner, complete with an old timey cash register.
J.D. ordered a ham and egg sandwich; Deb took a vegetable omelet together with home fries; Savannah took a spot of macaroni and cheese; and I chimed in with a western omelet with fries and toast. Not remembering it at the second time there (28 December 2003 just before J.D. and I set out for Giants Stadium), it turned out that I had the exact same thing. There are numerous good and excellent restaurants in NJ. The 'shore' is where you will find the heaviest concentration of fine dining places. Due to New Jersey's dense population you usually don't have to go far to find good food. The proximaty to Philadelphia also contributes to the cuisine of southern NJ with some excellent pizzarias, awesome hoagie shops(subs to you folks from NYC) and Philly-cheesesteaks(you can get 'em just as good here in Jersey).Italian, Chineese and other styles of eating are readily available all around south-Jersey.The competition makes for some great eating. Most large towns have good places to eat and some of the best opportunities to get to know locals is at the smaller towns Diners. One of the smallest is in the college town of Glassboro which is home to Rowan University(prev. Glassboro State College. The diner in Glassboro is called Angelo's and they have very reasonable prices, good eats and a steady supply of customers that could almost qualify for family(they just about live there).Another diner with local flavor is in Salem NJ called the Salem Oak diner(named after the locally famous tree that sits accross the street.Another place with local flavor and in a nice antique/collectible shop setting is the Hilltop rest. in quaint Mullica Hill(4 miles east of exit 2 of the NJ turnpike(which is also near my home. There are also great diners on Route 40 (where it intersects rt.77) called the Pole TavernCircle diner and right in the village sized town called Elmer. Route 40 has lot's of diners because it's a major east-west travel route to Atlantic City and other 'shore' points. A diner I've heard a lot of good things about is located in Mays Landing (also on rt. 40, I believe, but I do not know the name of this diner.
My favorite menu items are not so much my favorites because of their excellence but because they are well done meals that are respectably priced and in comfortable cuisine where I almost feel like everyone knows each other and we're all friends( something that is hard to feel in New Jersey. Theme: OtherDirections: The diners aforementioned are all located in the central part of southern NJ.
