Clark's Landing: Sunday Brunch

by nicolettart

I think this is the best brunch in the area! For 19.95/person you get a selection of soups, seafood (mostly seafood), roast beef, eggs cooked to order, etc. etc! Oops, almost forgot to mention the Alaskan king crab legs! If you're in the mood to eat, this is the place. the sweet potato bisque was yummy!

Good Food Cafe: Delicious Pancakes!

by kazander

My parents told me about this gem of an eatery way up north on Rt. 23. After hearing so many good things about it, we had to go check it out for ourselves. It is a very cute country restaurant with light wood interior and decorated for the holiday with lots of autumnal colors and leaves. The menu is the main attraction, every kind on pancake you can imagine is served here. They are HUGE! But not to worry, you can order just one, or you can mix and match to try different flavors. Besides pancakes, they also serve "build your own" omelets, not to mention lots of combos, and don't forget to check the special board! Pumpkin Pecan pancakes were the special when we were there, unfortunately we didn't notice this until AFTER we had orderd. Oh well. Next time.On your way out you may want to pick up a freshly baked loaf of bread, or a pie. I picked up an apple/blackberry pie,...

The Castle Tavern: Lakeside drinks

by kazander

The ambiance is the reason to come to this tavern on the lake. It's shaped like a castle (hence the name) and decorated in that theme. The real draw is outside. Downstairs is a bar and deck that is literally over the lake. The deck extends out to a dock where you can "park" your boat and come in for a bite. They play a lot of Bob Marley and other "vacation" like music. It's a perfect spot to hang out with friends have a drink and take in the great view of beautiful Greenwood Lake.PDATE!!! 7/2007The Castle tavern has fallen under new ownership and my, my what an improvement! The food is now excellent! Yippie! And they have redone the deck and docks to accommodate more people with much nicer seating and umbrellas. On this most recent visit, Lou got the steamers and the ribs (which he said were amongst the best ribs he has ever had). I got the "hidden cheeseburger" which was ridiculously...

Mexicali Rose: Stay away! Shockingly abusive manager!

by joeyanks

This is unbelievable! After a dispute over an order that was not delivered after 1-1/2 hours, in which I asked for a discount or other compensation for the food they confirmed would be delivered cold, I spoke with Mike - the manager on Thursday night. Mike launched into a tirade when I asked for the cheese items that would certainly be ruined to be discounted. He insulted me and offered NOTHING, not even an apology, which the hostess had given me twice already admitting fault. I have 10 years experience in the restaurant industry and have never even heard of such aggressiveness. Had he offered me 10% or anything at all I would have been happy. His tone and abusive language led me to cancel the order entirely and hang up. He called me right back and screamed "THANKS FOR THE FREE FOOD, FAGGOT!" Do yourself and your family a favor and never set foot in or order from this place again. This is...

Olive garden: Love the olive garden

by Bavavia

Cozy atmosphere, clean, always something good on the menu , a new addition to the menu. Never had a bad meal at the OG. Its a nice casual place to go and have a nice meal Capillini pomodoro normally is what i get, but also when they have new menu additions i try those and never have been disappointed. Last menu addition was a grilled chicken dish with sundried tomato sauce with angel hair pasta with herbs and vegetables. It was excellent. I hope that dish is stll there when i go back to the olive garden

Pete and Elda's: Best Pizza Ever!

by VeronicaG

We first discovered Pete and Elda's when our grandson's travel baseball team met here for pizza after a tournament. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this restaurant produces the best pizza I've ever tasted. The pizza comes from "Carmen's Pizzeria" which is located within the restaurant. We came to learn that Pete and Elda's has been officially voted BEST PIZZA many times! We always order a thin crust pizza with mushroom and pepperoni. It's crispy and delicious; the cheese and sauce are enough but not too much. Everything blends to create a fantastic meal! Although we don't live very close to the restaurant, we make the drive to pick up pizza from Pete and Elda's often. It is remarkably delicious.Pete and Elda's serve many other entrees and 20 different appetizers in their restaurant and have a booming business, especially on the weekends. They are open until 1:15 am. Their...

Arche Typus Cafe: Sit in Art!

by kazander

This cool little coffehouse in Edgewater is a sculpture in itself. The exterior looks like a set of something that would be in a science fiction movie. Carved "stone" looks like it's almost dripping from the facade. Inside be sure to sit in non smoking even if you are a smoker because the ambiance is just so much better! Instead of a little cafe table you sit in little alcoves that are carved into the walls and decorated with scuptural human forms. Hey, the coffee isn't bad either!UPDATE! ALL NJ resturants are now non smoking! They have wonderful desserts and ice cream sundaes (but fancier) i got one that was coconut ice cream with almonds and hot fudge

Cafe Archetypus: Cool, Cavernous, Unique Spot

by danasuzanne

This place is totally unique. It looks like it was formed out of a cavern and is all white. Gives me the feeling of the Greek Isles. Check out their website. A romantic, fun spot for dessert, light dinner. BYO. They have an outdoor area in the summer. Food is fresh & light. Delicious Mediterranian Appetizers, Great sundaes.

Chestnut Chateau Restaurant: Italian/Mediterranean Cuisine in Union County

by Icemaiden02

Enter double doors, lots of echolades on the walls. Small wait area (seating for 2-5 people), with a rack for hanging coats. Main seating room has seating for about 50 people (10-20 tables), and normally in the far corner, they have a musician (pianist or guitarist) set up in the corner for live music. To the right, there is a separate room for the bar and is well stocked. Smoke from the bar does not permeate the main dining room area, which is very nice. The steaks and the seafood is simply delicious- we have been here over 10+ times and the service is impeccable. I love their seafood, you simply cannot go wrong. I have tried everything from broiled swordfish to stuffed lobster and pan-seared salmon, everything is delicious. My husband always gets the steaks (porterhouse or filet mignon) and they are tender and divine.
