Thomas Sweets: Home of the blended icecream

by arv1

The appearence of the shop is nothing special, but don't be fooled!! Venture inside and taste the most amazing ice cream ever, served in generous portions, costing only $4!! There are so many different comninations of ice cream that you can have which is great!! And outside the shop, on friday evenings, there is live entertainment, which is just perfect when its a hot day, you have cold ice cream (as opposed to...hmmm....) and chilled out music!!I guess I loved it because Ice Cream Parlours are very rare in England, we hardly go out for just desserts. And our parlours are usually just stalls located in shopping malls, that usually close at 8pm. :( My favourite dish was a blended ice cream.I got chocolate and got peanut m&m's blended in....it was niiiice but waaaaay too sweet!! I finished it though!! ;) If you have a sweet tooth I recommend it, but otherwise you have a large selection of...

WAWA: Wawa Hoagies

by KarenandCory

WAWA is a convenience store, most are open 24 hours and many also have gas stations. There are no Wawas at home in Massachusetts. Every trip to New Jersey, we stop at Wawa for their Built-to-Order Hoagies. There is a touch screen monitor for easy ordering. You select what kind of hoagie you want, hot or cold, and what you want on it. There are 4 sizes available: 4 inch Junior, 6 inch Shorti, 10 inch Classic and 2 Foot.We get the 6 inch Shorti. Although Wawa is just a little convenience store, I find their subs way better than most of the ones I can get in Massachusetts. They are definately one of the highlights of visiting NJ for me. Wawa HoagiesDelicious, built-to-order Wawa Hoagies are made in four sizes : 4 inch Junior, 6 inch Shorti, 10 inch Classic and 2 Foot.

Triangle diner: Triangle Diner - somewhere out there

by Martin_S.

Yes, a true diner as I used to know as a kid, we don't see many of these anymore with the advent of junk food like McDonalds..this was the place where you went with your girlfriend to have some of the home made apple pie. This picture was taken before I was a VT addict, so did not write down the address or even the name of the town where we found it, so if anyone recognizes it, please let me know, thanks.

The Looking Glass: Great art house cafe

by asturnut

This tip is copied from my Millville page. I've chosen to include it on this page as well because I like it enough that if I moved away, this is a place I would miss and travel back to.-------------The Looking Glass cafe was one of the first cool places that sprung up in the Millville arts district. It's the perfect trendy, artsy coffeehouse that most people wish they had in their town (nah nah!) We don't need Starbucks because we have the real thing. The Looking Glass has a great relaxing vibe with cool tunes, art books, travel & wine magazines and original art to enjoy on great floppy couches. They even have live entertainment such as improv jazz occasionally. Closed on Sundays. Up until recently I'd only had breakfast at the cafe because I work night shift. The ambiance and coffee not the food keeps me coming back. For a bagel and green tea I paid $3.18. Considering I would have paid...

The Lobster House: THE seafood restaurant in South Jersey

by asturnut

The Lobster house is the most famous and revered seafood restaurant in South Jersey. As a child I stayed right next door to Fisherman's Whaft for a couple weeks for every summer vacation. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't old enough to appreciate it at the time. It was not until my honeymoon that I actually ate there as an adult. The Lobster house sells incredibly fresh and first rate seafood. Since I'm not a seafood eater, the whole experience is lost on me; but I know quality when I see it. My husband ordered king crab legs that were so big that even when broken in half they didn't fit on his oversized plate. The meat inside of crab legs was the size of a carrot! Every plate that I've observed at the Lobster House was impressive. If you don't like seafood and you aren't a steak and potatoes person (I'm a vegetarian) you have have trouble finding something on the menu you will like. But if...

Bistecca: A great place for a delicious dinner with friends

by kazander

What a wonderful time we had celebrating Bobby's Birthday, Lou and My engagement and of course Katey and Bobby's wedding, only days away! Rainy weather delayed the plane and made the traffic heavier than usual, but just an hour later than planned we met up at Bistecca. Bistecca is a wonderful restaurant Katey found that had the two types of food requested by Bobby for his homecoming meal, Italian and Steak (he got a burger...go figure:P ) It's located just through the lovely lobby, which is decorated with palms, exotic birds and a fountain. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and a jazz band was playing. For drinks, Katey and I both had a "Blue Moon". Good, but strong. A sipping drink for sure. I forget what Lou ordered but apparently it was wonderful, I didn't try it because it had vodka in it. (long story) and Bobby had a Harp on tap.For an appitizer, we order the Brie and...

NJ diners: classic roadside food

by feline01

NJ is famous for its diners. They are dotted throughout the state and generally serve breakfast items like pancakes, french toast, eggs all day along with a wide variety of other foods that can range from hamburgers to a vegetarian platter. Diners are traditionally owned by Greek-Americans so one can often find a Meditteranean influence on the menu. The best thing about diners: UNLIMITED COFFEE! This is the Bendix Diner located on Route 17 near Route 46 in northern New Jersey. It is one of the old-fashioned diners and quite famous. As a child and young adult, I always ordered grilled cheese with french fries and often a vanilla milkshake or coffee as I got older. As a vegan, I do miss diners, the only food for me now usually is french fries though some diners have decent vegetables to make a meal.

down to earth: fresh juices. wheat free items. totally vegan.

by stephiblu

this restaurant is downstairs on the main drag in redbank. it has two rooms. bigger than a lot of veggie restaurants and quite nice, not too hippie-ish. its hard to say. they have great vegan dessets. and they serve a greater selection than your typical vegan restaurant. its like vegan gourmet. my favorite dish is this socca thing. it has layers like lasagna but made of filo dough-ish stuff and tomato sauce and fresh bean puree.
