The building know known as The Rail at Readington has gone through many changes. 'Back in the Day" it was known as the Union Hotel. It has been various restaurants over the past several years, most recently 'The Junction'.

The Rail at Readington opened just in time for the Memorial Day Weekend. Lunch options (and there are many) have cute names hinting at the history of the building next to the Whitehouse Station NJ Transit station.

Do not miss the Leinenkugel's Summer Shanty on Tap!

Favorite Dish: Any of the Burgers and the Calamari Salad Appetizer.

Great friendly service. Salads were served on ice cold plates( a plus in my book). They offer local wines or you can bring your own.
    Closed Mondays.

Favorite Dish: Had lunch here during the community day festivities in December. They had a 4 pasta lunch selections on special for $4.95!

Their Chicken Salad Pizza was voted the 'Best of NJ' by NJ Monthly in 2008. I have had this a few times....it is good!

Jerry's Place is a great place in town to meet someone for Breakfast or Lunch. No table service. You order at the counter and then wait until they call your name to pick up.

Favorite Dish: I always enjoy their wraps.

Very low overhead kind of place. Shop is actually in a converted chicken coop. Large selection of Italian provisions.

Open only 9 to 5 during the week and till 1 on Saturdays.

What to buy: They carry a Swiss cheese made in Poland that is my favorite.

NJ festival of Ballooning- the festival has gotten hghly comercialized over the years with folks trying to sell you anything from lawn furniture to real estate! It is a good place to people watch though.

Unique Suggestions: You should only go on a day that a band you like is performing!

Fun Alternatives: Make a friend in the area and go to a picnic at their house and see the balloons for free! Many balloons land in area yards.

Readington River Buffalo is located approx 5 miles south of downtown Whitehouse Station right on Route 523. The official store hours are 9 - 5 Saturday and Sunday. You can pick up buffalo meat (America's original red meat). They have an open house/fundraiser for the local rescue squad event in late May where you can see calves being born and sample buffalo products. Check the web page for more details.
