LodeStar Astronomy Center
Visiting the astronomy center is a wake-up call. You suddenly realize how little of a "fish" you are in a giant system of "oceans." Awe-inspiring, slightly frightening at the realization of the birth of our planet and the solar system, a trip to the LodeStar Astonomy Center makes for terrific discussion if nothing else!
The light shows are spectacular, averaged priced, and a great way to spend two hours. Conviently located at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science Center, shop in the StarWorks astronomy store for celestial gifts.
Open daily from 9am-5pm, exept Christmas, Thanksgiving, and non-holiday Mondays in January and September.
Rattlesnake Museum & Gift Shop
The world famous American International Rattlesnake Museum is located in Albuquerque's Old Town. The gift shop is free (if you don't buy anything) and has a nice range of reptile-related souvenirs - from kid-oriented to tacky to scientific. You need to pay to enter the museum portion, but it is definitely worth it!
OPEN: weekdays noon-6; Sat. 10-6; Sun. 1-5
The National Atomic Museum
If you are interested in 'atomic' history, this is the place to go. Both military and civilian use of atomic power and technology is on display. The picture is of a replica of the 'Fat Man' atomic bomb as used against Japan at the end of World War II. Other exhibits show actual B29 and a B52 bombers, and are about the Manhattan Project, the Cold War and new : Russian Bomb development!
Albuquerque Museum of Art and...
Albuquerque Museum of Art and History is a large well maintained museum. It nice enough but not my favorite museum in Albuquerque.
Could not take any photos inside the museum. The exhibit I wish I had taken a picture of was the one about the Spanish Conquistadors.
Atomic Museum, Albuquerque History Museum
The Albuquerque History Museum is one of the most informative sources for local info that I know of. The Atomic Museum is a blast, as well.
Don't Let the Dinosaurs Get You
Just two blocks northeast of Old Town are the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and the Explora Science Center and Children's Museum.

New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science is great. One of the best things I visited in Albuquerque.
