Sandia Peak: A sunset from the top of the Sandia Mts.
Our sunsets are what gives poetry to the sky. As you gaze out into the vibrant blazing colors of the sun spreading throughout the sky lashing out one of God's breathtaking tapistry's like a master painter that He is, you cant help being caught up in a trance as your heart folows the sun into the night.

Sandia Mountain, also known as Sandia Peak was created by a fault with raised up with the floor dropping. The Rio Grande River flows along the valley. If you view the picture below you can see the layers of rock.
There is a trail which goes from the bottom all the way to the top.
There is also a trail which goes along the top.
There is a tram that is used year round to the top. There is a ski area on the back side of Sandia Mountain. (East)
You can drive to the top on the east side of the mountain. There is a restaurant near the tram exit and the view is quite spectacular.

    Sandia Peak: Ski Area.
The Sandia Peak Ski Area lies on the eastern slope of the mountain. The top of the 7,500-foot double chair lift is just below the upper terminal of the Tramway. To get to the Ski Area, you can either take the Tramway and walk down the stairs to the chair lift, or take the very scenic drive from the east side of the Peak.

    Sandia Peak: Sandia Crest
There are a number of foot trails along the rim; you can hike about a mile south to reach the Tram Terminal. Anywhere on the top of the mountain has a great view; I enjoy watching the sunset from the Crest.
