La Cienega is a small town of about 3800 (up 27% from 2000) located along Interstate 25 in North Central New Mexico. Cienega is Spanish for a spring and usually refers to a wetland near the base of a mountain or hill. La Cienega is at the southern end of the Rocky Mountains. La Cienega is also the location of a nice Welcome Center along the interstate.
