Madrid is still famous for its Xmas lights on the first two weekends in December. One picture shows the elevated shops on Main Street where the old soda fountain was located. Unfortunately that shop has gone out of business. Even the outdoor toilets have Xmas lights inside.
Okay, so I don't know what this really is, but to me it reminded be of a ball of yarn and a bunch of knitting needles .... the artist just might be horrified to find out my interpretation :)

Madrid is a small town, so don't go here expecting a whole lot to do, unless you arrive during shopping hours. The main road is filled with colorful shops and artist's studios, but after 5 o'clock most places shut down and Madrid can be a little dull. After 5, you can head down to the saloon or take a walk up to the hilltop cemetary and enjoy the amazing sunsets.
In the summer time, go to the melodrama in the Engine House Theatre. The Coal Mine Museum is right next to it.
