The botanical garden attracts several types of birds. I saw a few including some Gambol's Quail. This one is the only one that cooperated with having his/her picture taken.
There is a nice botanical garden showcasing desert plants surrounding Coote Hill. A nice paved trail meanders through the garden and to the top of the hill. It is not very steep so it's easy to walk.
Most of the other remains of the old fort are just that, remains. Very little there. They have a sign showing where the airfield was (it is interesting to note that this was the first real use of aircraft for military purposes); the Headquarters Building; the Judge Advocte General Building which doubled as the jail; a grease rack and a ramp (it was also the first military use of the automobile). Not much to look at but a pleasant enough walk to see them.
