The casino had many slots, blackjack tables and other card games. I tried my hand at the wheel of Fortune slot. There was not much Fortune in this slot for me. I ended up losing $60-$80. The casino hotel is pretty nice, there is a lake out front where you can sit and read. There are trees all around.

Ski Apache was a great place to ski. We went spring break '04 and there was a great mix of family and the college crowd. Nice getaway from the usual Padre, Mexico spring break trips. And not crowded like Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen and others are at these times. A great place for Colorado style skiing in New Mexico. Lift tickets were reasonably priced, gondola was a few more dollars but took you all the way to the top. Overall great time.

Old Lincolntown is a few miles north of Ruidoso. The town has re-enactments of Billy the Kid's last escape. You can walk through 19th century New Mexican houses and buildings. There is a story of Billy hiding out in the floorboards of a house to avoid capture.
Billy the Kid was a key figure in the Lincoln County Wars. He became a legend as a rough-and-tumble gunslinger who looked like a kid.
