by emmalola Written Aug 24, 2002

Favorite thing: To truly enjoy Santa Fe, one must let go of their schedule, put away the palm pilot, stash the cell phone, and let their hair down. Once in this new, blissful, unreachable state, one can dig in and become everything Santa Fe has to offer. But don't forget your VISA card.

Fondest memory: My fondest memories of Santa Fe are the long afternoons spent sitting on the Plaza, enjoying the tourist flow and soaking up the culture of capitalism. mmmm.

Favorite thing: The Lorretto Chaple to see the 'Miracle Staircase' and listen to the story of it's creation. It is a freestanding spiral staircase with no means of support other than its spiral structure. Listen to the
recording with speculation about the young carpenter who mysteriously arrived to build it.

    by star091 Written Aug 24, 2002

Favorite thing: The Bandelier Monument. It's a tour of the Anasazi. Even if you're into looking at rocks, there's one part of the tour where you climb up this 140ft ladder to a little hole in the rocks. That was where the Anasazi lived. It gives you the feeling of going back in time and being in their shoes. The foods are amazing;spicy. People are soo friendly.

Fondest memory: Driving to Taos. It felt like a driving game. We started off with cloudy weather. than the sky started raining, snowing, turned dark, and then the sun came up. The feeling Santa Fe sends out is inviting, and warm.

    Green Peppers

by jujub Written Nov 18, 2002

Favorite thing: If you don't like red peppers, you can always get the green ones. ;)

They also have wreath of peppers, jarred peppers, pickled peppers, dried peppers -- and more peppers. =)

    Statues

by jujub Written Nov 18, 2002

Favorite thing: Again, some wonderful work of art - statues made of rock (not really sure what kind), the picture does no justice to the real thing..

    Beaded Doll

by jujub Written Nov 18, 2002

Favorite thing: This is an amazing work of art: the entire doll is handmade with tiny beads -- the clothing, the bag, the shoes... all made with beads.

Favorite thing: Santa Fe is loaded with galleries and other shops filled with art works. This bull was tucked away in this resting area with shaded tables and chairs... it's cute, i like it!

Fondest memory: Jewelry made of turquoise and silver is typical. Some people, however, will overdo it..... (see below) :-)

Fondest memory: It´s an artists´ town. There are many museums and art galleries, and so many beautiful (and not so beautiful) pieces of art can be seen in front of the buildings.

Fondest memory: You know the movie 'Ben Hur'? - Well - Mr Wallace wrote the book right in the Palace of the Governors while serving in the US army. Today, Indians sell their jewelry in the shade of the patio.

Fondest memory: Another typical feature are the handmade pots. Indian potteries are frequent - and oh, are the pieces beautiful. But don´t even ask about the price.
