Once a month T or C has a Art Hop on the second Saturday of the month. The city has a lot of Art Gallerys and shops open the night of the Hop.We had fun looking at the Art and enjoyed the music. After we went to the outside patio at the Happy Belly Deli and had a drink. The Art Hop was a lot of fun.more
Celestial Creations is the brainchild of founder Celeste Rich, and they really do have a HUGE variety of things actually made in New Mexico. It was great to see the mix of inexpensive jewelry with real turquoise and fused glass, along with high-end knits and quirky metal art for the garden. Lots of inexpensive tourist-y items, too, many with 'Truth...more
The Museum is the history of Geromino and Indians of the area. They have a lot about Geromino, Indian pottery and displays of arrow heads. They also tell about the history of the Elephant Butte Dam near T or C. And also how they changed the name from Hot Springs to Truth or Consequences. Many famous people and movie stars have visted the town. The...more
If you'd like a break from the beach or a short half day outing check out the "ghost towns"of Cuchillo, Monticello, Chloride. and Winston. Take I-25 north to exit 83 (marked Cuchillo/Monticello). As you come off the ramp north bound you'll turn left and go 2.5 miles on route 181. Next turn left on Route 52; you'll go 2 more miles and then bear to...more
Stop at the "Black Cat" and get some coffee. This Coffee shop has books for sale and nice seating with an outdoor patio. This small restaurant can get really busy. And that is because they have the best chile around. The flavor of the chille red or green will have you coming back for more. Try the combo plate and get a taste of all the food they serve. It is a big plate of food. I always get red and green chile on my plate and both very good.more
Good New Mexican Food. Their in a new building now much bigger than the old restaurant. One Sopapia will be enough for at least two people, maybe three, they are huge.A lot of people come from the lake to eat here. They are open 10:30AM to 10PM most summer days. Any of the Mexican Dishes are good. Get them with your choice of Red or Green chile....more

If you're tired of seeing 'made in China' stickers on everything, you really should check out Celestial Creations. They have 4 big rooms full of everything made in New Mexico. This place is like a museum there's so much original stuff. Not just art, either. Food, jewelry, great purses! And you really have to see the metal yard art made from...more

T or C gets hot in the summer, but not really that bad. It cools in the evenings and the Humidity is very low. We just go to the lake and swim during the hot part of the day. Seems to keep you cool tell the evening.
Always have water and sun screen.
Luggage and bags:
Bring your swim trunks for swimming.
They have a big Lake here and Hot Springs
you can take baths in.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Summer dress lite, sun screen, big hat and bring your swim gear.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: You won't find many Mosquitos here.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: They have a nice Lake here. Elephant Butte lake, you can fish, swim, ski, par sail behind a boat. Camp and hiking is also great here.
Miscellaneous: Try the Hot Spring Baths in T or C the water is warm and good for you. Most are private so you don't even need swim suites.
Head out of T or C to Hillsboro a small town that is called a Semi-Ghost town. Although you would never know it during Labor Day when they have the Apple Fest. it is full of people from all over then. This town is in a very pretty area as you are going into the mountains and can feel cooler than T or C.more
