This was our first stop on our drive to some restaurants seen on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" (or DDD). It was recommended for the Cheeseburger Soup, and the peppers, the Huge burgers and the Garlic/Parmesan wings. Not exactly a restaurant/bar that you would likely stop at if you weren't looking for it, but very popular - there was a wait to get in.
First thing when you go in - sign your name on the chalkboard and the number in your party. No name, no call to the table. It wasn't a bad wait, but I did drool I think over some of the platters being delivered to the table.
Busy busy place, and not a lot of parking.

Favorite Dish: I thought that the Garlic/Parmesan wings were wonderful - not too greasy, lots of meat, and great flavour. The onion rings were good - sweet onion, but they were somewhat greasy. From what we heard around at other tables, they were not up to the norm.... didn't stop us from eating most of them, though!
My traveling companion had a burger and it was huge.... and she said excellent.
We were disappointed that they had run out of the cheeseburger soup just before we got to order - it looked good.

If you like great tasting submarine sandwiches made with the finest ingredients. If you like your meals made your way and made fresh when you want it. If you have $7 then go to DiBellas and enjoy one of their popular old-fashioned submarine sandwiches.

The place isn't much to look at from the outside but it looks like an oldtime 1950s restaurant inside. Red naugahyde and wood booths; checkerboard tile floor; globe lights.
You make your way down the service counter and pick the ingredients you want for your sandwich. The cashier takes your money at the end of the line and by the time you get the receipt, the food preparer has your special sandwich ready to go.

This franchise began in Rochester, NY and is now branching out into other Western New York areas. Be sure to stop in and get a bite. You'll see why they are so popular.

Often you are on vacation and have some extra unscheduled time and you'd like to get out and get some fresh air.

The town of Amherst has an extensive set of bicycle and foot paths that are great for walking or jogging (or bicycling if you happen to have a bike with you).

The town publishes a complete set of maps and access points on its webpage. (see reference below). The paths are completely safe during the daylight hours but some of them are a bit remote and probably should be used after daylight hours only if you have a walking partner or group.

This is an easy 9-hole course you can play for under $20. It is a fairly well-maintained municipal course with few hazards and short rough. About the only troublesome parts are the greens which roll and pitch like old sway-back horses.

The small equipment shack has clubs for rent and balls and tees for sale in case you did not bring your own set on vacation.

Tee times are normally easily available except possibly on Staurday morning. Use the phone number below if you wish to call and reserve a tee time.

The venue is open from mid-April to mid-October (depending on the frost dates).

Favorite thing: This Webcam can give you info about the weather and the traffic on I-290. It is high up on the old Key Bank building (now the Dent Building) at Sheridan Drive (route 324) and Harlem Road (route 240) and has a commanding overview of I-290 when the camera is pointed north.
