For over fifty years, Attica has had an annual Rodeo event. Gates open at 6pm on the first Friday in August and continue from 11am to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. The tryouts and practices are held during the day and at that time you can visit the participants and see the animals up close. At 6pm each evening the championship events begin and last until after 10pm. Trophy presentation and special awards take place at the end of the evening.
Tickets are a bit expensive at $12 per night but one night's worth (Saturday is best) will normally suffice for the typical tourist.
580 Exchange Street
Take route 98 south to the center of Attica. Go east on Main Street (route 238) for three blocks and head south on Exchange Street. Drive less than a mile on Exchange Street and look for the signs for the parking (basically a field) for the event.
tickets are available at the address below or at the gate.
The name of the course says it all. It is an easy 9-hole excutive course perfect for the vacationer who wants to get in some quiet time in the sun and fresh air. The course is only 3800 yards so it is very walkable. It is great for someone learning to play the game too because the course is not very challenging. Water hazards are present across a couple fairways so you need to be able to control an iron shot. But other than that, you can pretty much bang away.
The fairways are bent grass as are the greens and the roughs are native fescues that are trimmed fairly short. Half the fairways are open and half have trees skirting them.
The facilities are open May through October. The cost for a round is $15. Dress code is casual but neat (no cutoffs) and no steel spikes. Clubs are available for renting from the "clubhouse". The course was first opened in 1974.
