If you get up to Smith street, you're set for the night. You can find parking on the street (I didn't have any problem, but we got there early) and just roam from bar to bar.
Here's a few of the many many places to go in this area:
Angry Wade's 224 Smith 718-488-7253
This place is corner bar with lots of room inside--pool tables and such, if you like shooting pool. It's described as an "urban ski lodge" that has fireplaces and a cozy atmosphere.
Halcyon 227 Smith 718-260-9299
This place is a coffee shop/music store/gift shop/lounge/dance place all in one. Very interesting and very loud. OH! It also has a rotating art gallery. I like going here a little earlier.
The Brazen Head Altantic Ave. at Smith Street.
Just a nice regular bar--I feel very comfortable here.
There are a lot more, but I think I'm going to run out of room. The Bar, The Bar Below, etc. All in the same area.
Dress Code:
I'd dress up a little bit, but it's nothing like the scene in Manhattan.
Pop in and out of the many bar/restaurants here. Favorites include Bar Tabac, Boudoir Bar, and the ever slummy ROXY. Quench is also a sometime happy place, while the downstairs of the sushi place (neon, can't miss it) will remind you of an old bath house.
Dress Code:
Whatever you feel like that night. Dress up or down, you'll feel right at home.
They serve only wine and beer. There is a calm, sexy atmosphere in the dark, velvety furnishings. The bartenders and owner are all very friendly...a great place to chill out on Smith Street.
