Brennan and Carrs: It's been around forever
I went here a couple times and it's great in that really quick, cheap and messy way. They are known for their hot beef sandwiches which they take and dip in a vat of gravy. This pile of slop comes out and it's excellent! The fries are good too--to clean up the remaining slop. I know this isn't a very appetizing way to describe food, but I promise, it's great and like $4.00. I thought it was a German place when we drove by...I remember it having that sort of atmosphere, but they are listed under American cuisine. Like a lot of restaurants in Brooklyn, you can't linger. You get in, order, eat and get out in like a half hour. They are busy, so it's understandable.
Restaurants come and go without anyone really noticing in this city, so it's remarkable that this one has been here since 1938.
Favorite Dish: They have a menu, but people go for the sandwiches. I don't even know what else is on the menu...
