The lake in Dalaware Park by tpal This is Hoyt Lake located in Delaware Park. This park along with many other parks and parkways make up our Olmsted Park System designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. Delaware Park which covers 350 acres in the center of the city, is the largest and in my opinion the most significant. My opinion may be colored by the fact that I live about two blocks from the lake. The two mile perimeter is one of my regular walking routes. The lake was the centerpiece of the 1901 Pan American Exposition. The building in the distance is Albright-Knox Art Gallery. The park is the summer venue for Shakespeare In The Park and free Sunday Jazz Festivals and the winter home for (surprise, surprise) Winterfest. Leave a Comment

Sullivan Style by tpal The facade of the Guaranty Building in Buffalo is covered with Louis Sullivan's trade marked patterned terra cotta. The design is incredibly ornate yet very elegant. The natural themes and flowing lines are clearly Art Nouveau. While details may be lost on the upper floors, close examination at street level is a must. Leave a Comment

My visit was primarily to Niagara Falls area and also to the area east of Buffalo, and due south of Rochester. It was in this region of the Genesee River that I discovered one of the most scenic and beautiful state parks I've ever been to in the entire country. It's called Letchworth State Park and it is approximately 17 miles in length and several miles wide. It also boasts in my opinion some of the most beautiful waterfall settings that you can gain access to without special climbing gear or equiptment.Excellent for exploring, hiking and photography.

view of seneca street from the ballpark by Wolverine_13 A triple-A team in the International league, The Bisons are a respectable team, and play in a beautiful ballpark! Tickets are dirt cheap, and a game during the summer is always fun! Leave a Comment

You must eat wings at the Anchor Bar, but then leave Buffalo, because it is yucky!
The best memory of Buffalo is leaving it. Leave a Comment

by XRZ87 Buffalo is just one of the greatest all around cities in America. Who cares if it is in an economic decline? Money doesn't make the city. People, history, nature, and resources do. Buffalo has it all. 320,000 may be the actual statistic attributed to Buffalo's population, compared with 500,000+ a few decades ago. The statistic that you don't get is that there is well over 1,000,000 citizens in the metropolitan area. People moved a few miles to the north, south, west, and east. Big deal. These 1,000,000 people are some of the best on earth. They bring the charecter to the region, they are its spine. The quality of life in the Buffalo region is amazing. You may hear about the people that move out because of the economic situation, but you never hear about the die hard people that rather raise there families on good old Buffalo ethics and moral than go elsewhere for a little bit more green. This is the place to LIVE. Buffalo boasts so many amneties for its vistors, so much more for its children. Weather? Hot summers, beautiful autums, pleasent spring, and adventerous and exciting winters. You have every season to the fullest degree. Nothing can shape you like perfect seasons, the way they were meant to be, can. That old cliche about Buffalo and winter is getting tiresome now. Time to know that we're four seasons to the fullest extent and proud of it. So much can be read and heard about Buffalo, but you'll never know the truth untill you experience it for yourself.

by jaybird199 Visit the Albright-Knox Gallery. Believe it or not, New York's Museum of Modern Art is now a parter with Albright-Knox. MOMA is offering weekend packages to come to Buffalo and visit the museum(yes its THAT good). It is located on Elmwood Ave. in North Buffalo along the strip not far from the UB campus.
My fondest memory of Buffalo is actually in the suburbs. While visiting as a kid we would get snowed in quite often due to Lake Effect snow which plagues the area in winter when Lake Erie isn't frozen over. There were many times we would be snowed in and couldn't go home and it was one giant movie-fest! We would build forts, go sledding, and of course eat great food! But like so many areas with frequest rough winters, we were plowed out soon and life resumed. Leave a Comment
