Favorite thing: Buffalo is just one of the greatest all around cities in America. Who cares if it is in an economic decline? Money doesn't make the city. People, history, nature, and resources do. Buffalo has it all. 320,000 may be the actual statistic attributed to Buffalo's population, compared with 500,000+ a few decades ago. The statistic that you don't get is that there is well over 1,000,000 citizens in the metropolitan area. People moved a few miles to the north, south, west, and east. Big deal. These 1,000,000 people are some of the best on earth. They bring the charecter to the region, they are its spine. The quality of life in the Buffalo region is amazing. You may hear about the people that move out because of the economic situation, but you never hear about the die hard people that rather raise there families on good old Buffalo ethics and moral than go elsewhere for a little bit more green. This is the place to LIVE. Buffalo boasts so many amneties for its vistors, so much more for its children. Weather? Hot summers, beautiful autums, pleasent spring, and adventerous and exciting winters. You have every season to the fullest degree. Nothing can shape you like perfect seasons, the way they were meant to be, can. That old cliche about Buffalo and winter is getting tiresome now. Time to know that we're four seasons to the fullest extent and proud of it. So much can be read and heard about Buffalo, but you'll never know the truth untill you experience it for yourself.

Fondest memory: Everyday.

Favorite thing: Visit the Albright-Knox Gallery. Believe it or not, New York's Museum of Modern Art is now a parter with Albright-Knox. MOMA is offering weekend packages to come to Buffalo and visit the museum(yes its THAT good). It is located on Elmwood Ave. in North Buffalo along the strip not far from the UB campus.

Fondest memory: My fondest memory of Buffalo is actually in the suburbs. While visiting as a kid we would get snowed in quite often due to Lake Effect snow which plagues the area in winter when Lake Erie isn't frozen over. There were many times we would be snowed in and couldn't go home and it was one giant movie-fest! We would build forts, go sledding, and of course eat great food! But like so many areas with frequest rough winters, we were plowed out soon and life resumed.

Fondest memory: To see the Bills play. This was my first NFL game, so far the best, Bills against the Dolphins. The stadium was sold out and the atmosphere electric, the winners would be top of the conference. I was thrilled to see Dan Marino play, but the Bills QB Doug Flutie stole the honours in a close game that the Bills just held out to win.
Just one thing though, the stadium is in Orchard Park, some way out of town and the traffic is incredible-- allow loads of time to get there.

Fondest memory: This is a photo of the beautiful Horseshoe Falls (Canadian side) from 3500 feet! The Canadian Falls are bigger than the American Falls, although from the ground both are impressive. From the air, it's an incredible sight to see it all in one view.

Fondest memory: My grandmother's house. Every Christmas I still come here for the traditional Polish celebration of Wigilia- Christmas Eve. We eat a dinner of Pierogie, Mushroom Soup and Fried Fish and then open presents under the massive tree- always a real tree chopped down in the pine forests of Western New York. The whole place just gives off a warm, family atmosphere that could not be duplicated anywhere else. Throw in the wafting smell of baked goods and Polish food, and this is one nice place to hole in for a week in December.

Favorite thing: Take an architectural walking tour of downtown. Buffalo, like Chicago, is a city rich in pioneering forms or architecture. See the art deco masterpiece of City Hall, the Victorian mass of the Ellicott Square Building, the soaring neogothic St. Paul's Cathedral, and one of the world's first skyscrapers, the Guaranty Building (Sullivan). You usually have to call ahead for a tour, since they're not that frequent (downtown Buffalo is not exactly a tourist paradise). Check local guides and such for more details.

Favorite thing: Having grown up in Buffalo, I would have to say that no trip to Buffalo is complete without a trip to The Anchor Bar and Grill on Main Street. The Anchor Bar invented the 'Buffalo' wing, that spicy delectable treat that goes so well with ranch or bleu cheese dressing. In addition, the city is actually quite beautiful with Niagara Falls situated just 20 minutes outside of downtown.

Fondest memory: The food and the people. Buffalo clearly has some of the best food on the great lakes or in upstate NY. From Beef on Weck to chicken wings to chicken finger subs, the thought of going home just makes my mouth water. Also, the people are among the friendliest around. Buffalo is a place where people still get to know their neighbors. In fact, Buffalo has been called the 'City of Good Neighbors'.
