A summer visit

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Typical summer clothes - it does get warm and humid here in the summer. Buffalo is a casual town so shorts, tank tops, sandals or athletic shoes (sneakers) are fine just about anytime.

For evenings, we do dress up here for the theater, orchestra or nice dinners. Wear what makes you feel good.

Miscellaneous: Don't forget the sunglasses and sunscreen!

A winter visit:

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you're visiting Buffalo during the winter, you'll want to make sure that you pack gloves, a scarf, and a sweater or two. I'll just assume that you'll know to wear a warm coat or jacket and boots. We do get snow and it can be snowy, but there are plenty of sunny days in the winter when a sweater and fleece will keep you warm.

Miscellaneous: Sunglasses. Summer or winter, sunglasses are a necessity. Summer is obvious, but in the winter, the sun does reflect off the bright white snow.

Even in summer, it can get cold.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you aren't from the north, bring something long sleeved. It can definately get chilly to out-of-towners, even in the summer.

Photo Equipment: Bring a decent amount of film -- you'll probably find more interesting, photogenic stuff here than you'd expect.

Miscellaneous: An appetite.

Luggage and bags: If you come, pack like you would normally do.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Now despite their cold and snowy winters, it actually isn't that bad. Everyone knows that Buffalo and New York State doesn't have the best weather. But it shouldn't make a difference in your decision to visit and enjoy yourself in Buffalo. When it snows, crews are accustomed to clearing sidewalks, and roads and parking lots. Not only do they do an EXCELLENT job,but roads are cleared QUICKLY, even when large amounts of snow fall(which can be frequent in the early months of winter) Snow isn't really an inconvenience in Buffalo like some would have you believe. So its not like you will be trudging through 10 feet of snow. You will want a nice, warm jacket, perhaps gloves and a hat. Boots can be nice, but I wouldn't say they are necessary. Summers are usually pleasant with occassional heat waves. But never has 100*F been recorded in Buffalo. Heat waves consist of upper 80's, low 90's. General highs are in the upper 70's and low 80's. Like most of the eastern 2/3 of the USA in summer, Buffalo too can get awfully humid. Other wise it is like Toronto's weather. Warm and pleasant in summer. The spring can have brief spells of heat, otherwise just rainy and brisk. Highs in the upper 40's to upper 50's. Fall is the best time of year when its brisk. Highs are in the low 60's to low 70's and the days are generally clear. Nights can get chilly-near freezing-this time of year.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: This city has all the amenities a large city should have. This is America...there is a convenience store around every corner!! HAHA

Photo Equipment: You can buy any photo equipment that you need. The cheapest places are usually a Wal-mart of target. There is a wal-mart plaza on Walden Ave. on the corner of Harlem RD.

Photo Equipment: Always bring plenty of film and a camera that you're comfortable with. You'll want to get some great photos of Niagara Falls. This is a picture of the Maid of the Mist, a tour boat that takes you very close to the base of the falls. Prepare to get wet!
