The Rue Franklin is a jewel of a restaurant in downtown Buffalo. It feels like you are entering a restaurant in Paris when you walk through the doors. The dining room is elegant, yet inviting and cheerful. In the summer months, they have a garden area that is beautiful and a great setting for a meal. The staff are all top-notch. They are friendly, attentive and know the menu like they cooked it themselves. And then there is the food. The menu that changes seasonally and is inspired by the freshest ingredients available. You might find yourself presented with an entree of lamb, lobster, game hen, or antelope on any given visit. The food is always delicious no matter what you order. The Rue Franklin offers a three course prix fixe menu is offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It costs from $25 to $30. It's a great bargain and a great way to get into one of Buffalo's best restaurants without spending your entire allowance. You definitely need to call ahead for reservations, especially on the weekend.
When the cassoulet is on the menu it just calls out to me and when the desserts are presented, they have a warm gratin of berries that I love. Shango is a great place to go for New Orleans cajun/creole cuisine. It's a comfortable place with just enough tables to not give you that squeezed in feeling. The wait staff are all friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. They also have a great wine bar with many good wines available by the glass. We've gone in for dinner and Sunday brunch and enjoyed our meals every time.
For brunch: "Green Eggs and Ham" - Pesto scrambled eggs, prosciutto, and roasted red peppers. Delicious! At dinner: I have to have a bowl of gumbo. It is as good as any gumbo I've had in New Orleans. This is the place that started the rave. The Anchor Bar started making hot wings years ago, and they pride themselves on being where it all started. If you order the hottest style wings, the cook will watch you eat them because very, very select few people can finish them.
Hot wings, of course!

The Original Home of the Chicken Wing- They really do have the best wings in the city (and the best service- my best friend works there!) .... Go there on a Friday or Saturday night after 8pm - Jazz great Do Do Green and band performs (she looks about 70, but we think she's in her 90s!) . They're great- this place is the real thing - and really reflects the city - Great food, Great music, friendly people and a laid back vibe (i mean, you're ripping apart wings, drinking alcohol while listening to some of the finest jazz tunes around)
Chicken Wings, of course (tip. order them extra crispy, medium sauce) Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Main Street

The Anchor Bar & Restuarant is the original home of Buffalo Chicken Wings... established in 1935!
I had the best Spicy Bar-b-que Chicken Wings I've ever eaten at the Anchor Bar! Get extra napkins! :-) I also bought 2 bottles of the Anchor Bar's Honey Bar-b-que sauce for $5.00 each! Leave a Comment

SCHARF'S RESTAURANT: Great German place, out of the way on Buffalo's East Side, near Schiller Park. (Just off of Genesee St, Route 33). 34 S. Crossman St., Buffalo. 895-7429 http://www.scharfsrest.com
Everything has been good. I've had the potato pancakes, Rouladen, Porkschnitzel, etc. They have spatzle as a side dish, something else you don't see every day. Spaten Lager is on tap. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
