After touring the Naval Park, or taking a cruise, you may be hungry. This place is more than just a Chinese restaurant; it offers a fine seafood buffet and a complete menu of seafood and other dishes. And it's right there by the waterfront.
The buffet is great. Tabree is a newer, small restaurant serving bistrot style french meals. Inside, the restaurant is a little on the small side with about 8 tables and a bar area. Outside, they have a great patio for warm weather dining. The menu is varied and the daily specials are truly special. Their wine list compliments the menu with wines to suit most budgets.
Diver Scallops w/ Crabmeat & Avocado, Provencal tomato puree, grilled artichokes as an appetizer is a great way to start out your meal. I would also recommend the Duck Roulade as an entree. The duck was cooked perfect and the accompanying vegetables and sauce matched perfectly. The Anchor Bar is the birthplace of the famous Buffalo wings which is nowadays enjoyed all over the United States. The restaurant was established in 1935 and the first wings were served in 1964. They have a complete menu featuring American favorites including sandwiches and pizza, but the main point to come here is to eat their world famous chicken wings.
The Buffalo wings come in 5 different flavors: Mild, medium, hot, spicy BBQ, and something called "suicidal". You can order sets of 10, 20, or 50 wings. We tried the medium flavor which was absolutely delicious, and then we decided to order suicidal. It was extremely hot! (I can usually eat a lot of spicy food, but this was too hot for me as well. Your lips will start to feel numb.) The first 3 or 4 suicidal wings you can probably tolerate, but after that you need to stop for a while and drink water. But this was a great experience! You have to try their wings. Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 1047 Main St.Directions: Located in downtown Buffalo. It's after midnight and we still have another 3 hours to go on our Cleveland Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Roadtrip...but we *do* need dinner!! What better stop than Frank & Teressa's Anchor Bar on Main Street in Buffalo, New York! They are after all home of the original buffalo chicken wings and man, were we hungry. We ran into the Anchor Bar with time on our minds. We wanted food, we wanted it fast, and we wanted to get to Cleveland by 3:30am. Surrounded by dark wood walls and kitschy americana decor - walls covered in old license plates, a tall replica of the Statue of Liberty holding up, instead of her torch, a glazed plate of chicken wings - we sat ourselves at the large bar and began dissecting the menu. We decided on a plate of medium wings and a plate of bbq wings and sipped on our sodas while listening to the live music coming from the back room. Two minutes couldn't have gone by before our bartender placed our steaming and fragrant wings in front of us. I rubbed at my nose as the spicy heat wafted into my sinuses, burning them for a brief moment. This must have been the home to the original, because I never tasted wings this good. Crispy, juicy, meaty and messy - this was exactly what we needed after driving for 8 hours. We plowed through those plates as well as we could...but perhaps our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The Anchor Bar has a very relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and great wings. A well-spent stop. Leave a Comment
