    Build-a-Bear Workshop: Create a Friend

by CdnJane Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Build-a-Bear lets you do just that - build your own teddy bear. You select the type you want from at least a dozen different colours and types - including a koala, some dogs and cats. You can put a sound inside it - even create your own sound. Next step is the stuffing - this involves not just getting the stuffing material, but adding a heart AFTER you rub it between your hands, rub it on your heart, on your ear, and then turn around - and you get to say how much stuffing should be in your new friend. There is another step of blowing off the excess fluff. After that you stop at the computer and make up a birth certificate for your toy. Now, if you want to really splurge there are all sorts of clothes you can get for your bear - lots of Halloween costumes out now. After that, you pay for it! They do birthday parties here - they had one going on while we were there, and the kids were having a ball. It is just a really fun place to be.

What to buy: Of course - a bear. I "adopted" a Koala, whom I unoriginally named Sydney.

What to pay: Anywhere from $12-22US for a naked, no sound bear. I believe you can spend well upwards of $80US for some of the very special bears in fancy dress.

Walden Galleria: Shop Til You Drop... or just walk about and look

by CdnJane Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is not A shop... it is a shopping mall. Perhaps a little more upscale than some people wish to go to, but for that reason, it can just be a great place to look around, and think of it as a modern-day museum of consumer gluttony! Personally, I don't think that you would need it, or want it, if you can't find it at Walden's Galleria!! I've enjoyed going just to check out the shops and then trying to decide what to eat in the food court, or one of the restaurants.

What to buy: There are over 200 shops here.

What to pay: Anything from $1 upwards

Walden Galleria Outlet Mall: Great discounts at Walden Galleria

    by Faiza-Ifrah Updated Feb 21, 2010

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

After crossing the border we headed straight for Walden Galleria, which is a premier shopping center in Western New York. At Walden Galleria, we found an impressive selection of retail stores, services and restaurants to make our Family Day weekend shopping experience a truly exceptional one. We spent most of our time at Macy's though.

We noticed that compared to those in Lee, Massachusetts, Tangers and other Malls in Boone, NC, and Pittsburgh, this Mall had an ethnically diverse population of shoppers.

    Departmental Stores:

    Dick's Sporting Goods
    JCPenney
    Lord & Taylor
    Macy's
    Sears

    Family Fashion:

    Abercrombie & Fitch Co.
    Abercrombie Kids
    Aeropostale
    Against All Odds
    American Eagle Outfitters
    Banana Republic
    Buckle
    Finish Line
    The GAP
    Gap Body
    Guess
    Hollister
    J.Crew
    Lucky Brand Jeans
    Old Navy
    Pacific Sunwear
    Urban Outfitters
    Zumiez

What to buy: We bought clothing, jewelery and sporting items at this Retail Mall.

What to pay: Canadians can expect less to pay as there are less taxes and prices are on lower side in any case.

Mall was less busy in the morning Taking a rest for picture It was girls day, boys were visibly bored Mall is getting busier with Canadian shoppers A successful shopping comes to an end here

    Elmwood Avenue

    by kmorlo16 Updated Sep 23, 2006

The Elmwood stip is Buffalo's answer to Soho. There are numerous shops, boutiques and cafes down this street. You can find everything from gifts, trendy clothing, sophisticated clothing, garden supplies, pet supplies to a food cooperative. When in Buffalo, skip the malls in suburbia and come to Elmwood Avenue.
