by Laumas Go to Chestnut Ridge Park, especially in the Fall for a walk. It is owned by the county, so it's free entry, but it is one of the most beautiful parks in the country. Fall foilage galore, and great picnic facilties. Leave a Comment Address: South of Buffalo, in Orchard Park, NYDirections: South on I90 to route 219 to Armour Duell road exit, then follow signs

The zoo is in a nice setting in Delaware Park. The zoo contains Gorillas, Asian Elephants, Indian Rhinoceros, Reptiles, and many plants. Around the zoo is nice to see as well. Many old Victorian homes are in that area built in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Leave a Comment Address: 300 Parkside Avenue in Delaware Park.

This is the large spectacle that went in about 10-15 years ago off the I-90. This is a huge mall with plenty to do. I am not a real mall goer so I don't know too much about, just that it seems to be crowded all the time. Plenty of stores and stuff to buy. Leave a Comment Directions: Take I-90 and get off at exit 52 and take East or West depending on which side your coming from. The mall is right in front of you.Other Contact: Eat at Jack Astor's. by nuker Many of my friends from Rochester decided to go to school at UB. As a result, I found myself taking the train up from Fredonia every now and then to visit them at their various locations on the North and South campus. A lot of good parties on Minnesota St near the South Campus. This is a beautiful school with many nice buildings and landscapings, especially on the South Campus. Near 30,000 people attend UB. Leave a Comment Directions: The North Campus (Ellicot) is located in Amherst and is the newest section of UB. The South Campus is the older section that is located downtown of Main St and Kenmore (don't quote me on the Kenmore).Other Contact: Walk around the Law School and t

by nuker Our Lady of Victory Basilica & National Shrine. This is a beautiful church that was Consecrated on May 25, 1926 and elevated to a minor Basilica, making it the 2nd such church in the US. The style of the church is 15th-16th century Renaissance-style with French Baroque interior. This is a magnificant church I got to visit as a Freshman in college with some friends. We took a quick walk around the grounds and main area of the church. They do offer guided tours of the church with reservations. Leave a Comment Directions: 767 Ridge Road in Lackawanna. Open tours at Sunday at 1:00PM.Other Contact: As you can see in the picture, t

by nuker Sabres Hockey game or a concert at the HSBC Arena (Fomerly Marine Midland Arena). The arena has a capacity of around 18,595 screaming fans and concert goers. The Sabres games are always a blast to go to. The fans really get into the game and explode when a goal is scored. It is also fun to harass the opposing players and their fans! Leave a Comment Address: Located right downtown. Can't miss it.Other Contact: Some concerts I have seen there

Buffalo has some of the finest architecture around from the late 1800s to early 20th century. Besided Chicago, we are the only city to have buildings by Richardson, Wright and Sullivan. Traveling down Delaware Avenue, one can see some beautiful mansions that were built during Buffalo's golden age when Buffalo had more millionaires per capital than any other city in the US. The Allentown neighborhood is a beautiful historical area with many lovely Victorian homes as is the Elmwood Village.

The Taste of Buffalo is an annual weekend festival showcasing many of the area's restaurants. Buffalo's Taste of festival is the second largest in the country, next to Chicago's and attracts around 500,000 people every year. The festival takes place downtown on Main Street and is free to attend, though you can spend some cash once you start eating things. There is music and entertainment, but the best part is trying to decide what you're going to sample. Most things cost between 50 cents and $3, and you pay in tickets that you buy at any number of ticket stands. Some places portion's are larger, but if you're not sharing, you'll be full after trying three or four things. (at least, I was) They have everything from the normal to the extreme, and the Taste of Buffalo is probably the city's biggest festival. It begins at 11 a.m. both days of the weekend it takes place (this year is July 10 and 11, I think), and I'd highly suggest anyone in the area then should take time to check it out. Leave a Comment
