 | | | | Steamboat Landing Restaurant: Eat 'n view | Satisfaction: | | | | |
This place is huge. Restaurant, Patio/deck, accomodates probably 200 people. The view is everywhere. Two sides of the building face Canandaigua Lake and the patio area is right on the lake shore. The windows are wide and tall and in winter there is a large fireplace blazing (with artificial logs of course). The beams on ceiling and wall are real (recycled from structures in Ontario, Canada). The decor is heavy wood and gray stone indoors with both open and sheltered sections on the patio. On the walls are memorabilia of winter activities (similar to what they have in ski lodges). There is even a gift shop where you can get souveniers (tee-shirts, pins, magnets) from the area as well as hand-crafted trinkets and home-made jams/jellies/dips. Oh yeah, they serve food too..... The prime rib is fantastic, juicy, tender; the turkey breast roasted in cranberries is good too. If you are there for breakfast, they have a somewhat limited selection of pancakes and waffles but they aren't bad. Their omelet italian-style with spinach, peppers and provolone is very good. Chocolate covered strawberries (BIG ones) and cheese cake make a fine dessert. They do weddings and banquets and large family gatherings. The prices are not cheap but they are about normal for the Rochester-Syracuse area.
Chocolate covered strawberries are a must.
