    October 2005.

Our niece lives in Albany area and this is one of her favorite places.
Most of the group had either the house specialty of pulled pork or pulled chicken.
I was feeling a bit under-the-weather so I went with the house salad and soup.
They really enjoyed the pork and chicken (it was one of those go-back-for-seconds specials).
Apple pie ala mode and coffee for dessert and we rolled out of there full and happy.

Decor is American bench. Service was good; not too busy that day because of the bad weather. We left a nice tip for the friendly and courteous waitress. I thought the prices were a bit high but this is Albany and everything is a bit high here.

We'll probably be back there on next trip to our niece.

Favorite Dish: Pulled pork and chicken were the most popular.

Air service to Clifton Park is via the Albany Airport.

From there you can get a taxi/limousine or rent a car (Enterprise Rental has base here). You can take Adirondack Trailways from Albany with a drop/pickup in Clifton Park.

See the "Ground Transportion" page on the website below for details about local transportation options.

This mall used to be Clifton Country Mall. The name changed and so did the facade but its still the same mall.

The main stores are: Boscov, JC Penney, Marshalls
They have added some more live entertainment to draw in the crowds.
There are now 7 eateries including: Market Square and Dinner by Design

Other stores are: Aeropostale, GNC, Lane Bryant, Radio Shack, Stride Rite, S&K

So if you are in the area and need a dose of shopping (like my wife does), then stop in here and browse for a couple of hours.

Clifton Park Warnings and Dangers

If I had to pick a town to bring up kids or let my young adult daughter live alone in an apartment, then Clifton Park is one of the places I would pick. The New York State Police presence in the area is a great deterent to crime.

They rate this town in the top 90% of safe cities in America.
They have only 6 sex offenders in the last 5 years.

Still, you should use caution when on vacation. Lock car doors, put valuables in the motel safebox, don't flash a wallet-full of money, go in groups late at night.

But if I were vacationing in Clifton Park I would have a safe and happy time.

This park has trails that are use in summer and winter for hikers and orienteers. In the spring and fall, the trails give good access to birding areas.

There are fields and woods and streams; enough diversity to be attractive to several species of migrating birds.

Plans are in the works to expands the trail accesses to include other parks along route 146A.

    To get there:
I-87 to exit 9 (Clifton Park), east on route 146 (Clifton Park Blvd) one block to US9. US9 north to route 146A (Kinns Road).
