Final Part of my boardwalk tips again with more pictures.
The Iconic Coney Island Boardwalk was the Standard in Boardwalks and was copied everywhere! it was the most popular Area in the East Coast in the late 1800's to early 1900's and that is why coney island has one of the largest subway stations in the world. The mile long boardwalk host a humber of amusement rides and attractios like the luna park, brooklyn cyclones, Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park and more. But the advent of cheap travel due to the automobile has reduced this icon to a mere shell of itself. The attractions reached their peak during the first half of the 20th century, declining in popularity after World War II and years of neglect. After World War II, contraction began seriously from a number of pressures. Air conditioning in movie theaters and then in homes, along with the advent of automobiles which provided access to the less crowded and more appealing Long Island state parks, lessened the attractions of Coney's beaches.

After the Civil War in the late 1800's, Coney Island soared in popularity due to it's proximity to Manhattan and the large beachfront of the peninsula as the means of travel then were just horses, trains and the iconic new york subway where one of the largest subway terminals were built at Stillwell avenue to make the area more accesible to the public. Large crowds of New Yorkers often crowd the beaches here at coney island. However, the advent of modern travel like the automobile made the area less popular as the more inviting beaches in Long Island (like the Hamptons) are now more acessible than before hence it has lost it's luster. At present, the beaches are still a major draw but the numbers of people going to the beaches are now a trickle as compared as before.

The World Famous Hotdog Started Here at Coney Island!
Nathans Famous is Known the whole world over due to it's unique hot dog eating contests and it's association with coney island in brooklyn started in the early 1900's when coney island was a favorite of New Yorkers due to the proximity of it's beaches and the huge subway system just nearby the beach . Nathan's outlets known for their all-beef frankfurters served with a variety of toppings. The eateries also serve hamburgers, French fries, and breakfast sandwiches. More than 50 Nathan's units also feature fish and chips under the Arthur Treacher's brand. Nathan's is the classic hot dog of New York! while Sabrett is the practical Hot Dog of Manhattan. You can order a variety of hot dogs here at Nathan's and more but the Main Draw will be the Original Hot Dogs and the Hand Made Lemonade.

Remember that young Japanese guy who has a six-pack and gobbles up hotdogs and then his six-pack becomes like a backpack?
You must go to the hotdog place famous for the Hotdog eating contest where that Japanese guy has won so many times since I think 2001? Takayashi? Forgot his name…but the hotdog place has a branch on the boardwalk where you can get the hotdog and eat it on the benches facing the beach.
Depending on what hotdog you want, the prices vary...usually less than $5. Fastfood prices so you won't break the bank...
There are several trash cans and most of them are filled with Nathan’s waste (kinds sad for the planet – eco-unfriendly, but what can we do?). My wife says the hotdogs were a bit salty, but I did like them and I also like the fries. But then, I eat anything, hehehe
And of course, we have to mention that there are many food places where you can have seafood fried delights (I try to stay away from fried stuff though).

If you're lucky to be here during summer, just walk along the boardwalk here in Coney Island and you would be amazed by the amount of activities that you can do! Aside from the Entertainment Area with all the rides, there are several other places offering games like rifle shooting of a target and balloon popping and so forth.
We were lucky to be there on a summer day and there was loud music and absolutely happy dancing which I caught on video and I put it here on VT. They sure know how to party in the middle of the day! People of all sorts join in the dancing, from scary looking dudes to 8 month old! It was fun...

Coney Island has one of the Largest and Grandest Subway Platforms in New York City since the area was the Major Destination in the early 1900's by the New Yorkers for their beach activities and recreation but it is now eclipsed by other areas since airfare nowadays is cheap and automobiles are now a necessity, not a luxury like in those days. This large facility was designed at a time when Coney Island was the primary summer resort area for the New York region, with all of the rail lines in southern Brooklyn funneling service to the area.
The station is located at the corner of Stillwell and Surf Avenues in Coney Island, the site of the former West End Terminal; it is the southernmost terminal in the New York system. It has eight tracks and four island platforms, with trains entering from both compass north and south; however, it serves as the railroad-south terminal for all D, F, N and Q trains.
