National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum

by photochan Written May 28, 2013

Favorite thing: If you like baseball, this is the place, the Utopia, everything you love about baseball are right here. Don't forget to use yoour AAA discount for admission. Budget at least 3+ hours for the visit, you'll get a hand stamp for re-entry as you might want to leave the museum for lunch. Also, don't get too excited about the stores at the museum, most of the items can be purchased from shops and stores in town ( seemed to me that almost every store in town sells baseball memorabilia. You may find the cost a bit lower than those in the museum store. Look around, you can always go back to the museum store afterwards.

    Visitor Information Building

    by Bwana_Brown Updated Sep 1, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: On arriving in Cooperstown, I happened by chance to come across their Visitor Information Building (Chamber of Commerce) located on Chestnut Street (Highway 80) near the centre of town.

Since I was a bit early to check into the Resort and had no information whatsoever on the town, I decided to see what help was at hand! The lady staffing the front desk was very helpful, quickly pulling out a map of the town to show me where both the Resort and the local attractions were located. They even had a big parking lot out the back that she recommended I use to avoid the hassles of parking along the streets.

Fondest memory: Armed with my fist full of information, I headed off on foot to kill a few hours before checking in at the Resort.

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: I am a big fan of baseball so seeing the Baseball Hall of Fame was very fun. If you are not into baseball there are still a lot of stuff you can so! The downtown is full of interesting shops and there are a variety of stuff you can buy. No matter what, Cooperstown will be a good trip.

Fondest memory: The thing I remember the most is playing mini putt at Jack Nicholas's (hope I spelled the name correctly) Golf Complex. There were mini waterfalls and the courses were quite challenging. I also remember losing my ball in the water and trying to get it out. I hope that if you go, you will visit here.

Favorite thing: Absolutely visit, tour, taste Brewery Ommegang. Been to Belgium. This beer from Cooperstown holds its own!

Fondest memory: What a treasure. Even if you can manage to ignore the baseball crowd.

The Farmer's Museum is worldclass. The Native American collection at the Fennimore House is also a must see.
