Cooperstown Warnings and Dangers

SAFE is what the umpire says when the hitter slides into the base without being touched by the baseball. And safe is what you'll be when you visit Cooperstown. This quiet tourist location rates a "low risk" on the crime statistics chart. There is crime but it is well below the norm for a city its size in New York State. There is only one sex offender registered for the whole area.

Use the same precautions you would use at home and you will enjoy a safe vacation in Cooperstown.

On your way in and out of Cooperstown, the roads can be very treacherous because you may be going at the speed limit but all of a sudden a big curve in the road comes without notice. Also be careful of animals because I almost ran over a chicken crossing the road!

Finally, although I didn't experience this, people I know said that they got pulled over for frivolous things like having high beams on. I guess in a town where not much crime happens, they lock the little things down hard.
