Probably the best collection of Western art east of the Mississippi, the Rockwell Museum has three floors of painting and sculpture by some of the greatest American artists, including Frederick Remington, Cyrus Dallin, George Catlin, James Fraser, William Leigh, and many others. The top floor has an outdoor patio with good views of downtown. Be sure to check the website below for special exhibitions and other events.
Music in the Square is a free concert series held in Centerway Square in the middle of the shopping area of Corning, just south of the river.
The concerts are not every day but they are several times a week and performances are at noon and 7pm. The music genre is acoustics and jazz, viola and chamber music, organs and classical; in other words the music hits the whole spectrum.
The musicians are local favorites and once in a while a well-known name.
So while you are shopping, grab a lunch from a nearby restaurant and take it on over to the square and listen while you have a bite to eat.
The Rockwell Museum is located in downtown Corning. The museum features Western United States Art and Native American displays
