This is one of the original group of microbreweries that invaded the Rochester region back in the 1980s. They have three awards as Rochester's Best Microbrewery and they deserve it.
The place is bar and grill atmosphere; wide open rooms with light oak furnishings and clean, bright decor. I haven't had a meal here but they have a full menu of typical american meals.
We were there for the beer.
The dress code is neat, casual, buttoned-shirt, slacks; upper middle class. The clientel are as friendly as the management. The staff will be glad to pour you a stein and then tell you exactly how it was made (in detail). It is just a nice place to down a few pints and relax.
It is not typically a "pick-up" bar although you might find a lovely lass enjoying a glass of the local suds who is willing to have you buy her another round.
from the ads:
"All of our ales and lagers are made with only the finest ingredients available worldwide; two-row malted barley from Belgium and the freshest hops from Europe and the Pacific Northwest . Our lagers and ales are delivered cold and fresh, with no artificial preservatives or flavor deteriorating pasteurization, which insures that your customers enjoy them at their peak freshness."
They serve at least eight specialty lagers, and five original ales. You can even get their brands in other local establishments in Greece, Henrietta, Webster, Chili and Rochester.
Each month they have a special event night where they highlight one of their brands in competition with others. A typical list of events is:
April - Beers of Germany
May - "East Ales Meet West"
June - Fruited Beers and Grill-Out
July - Summer Beer BBQ Clambake
August - Luau with Amber Ales and Lagers
September - Scotch Ales
October - Oktoberfest
November - Harvest Celebration of Beers
December - Winter Warmers/Holiday Beers
