Right next to the entrance to the beach area of Fair Haven Beach Park you will find a hut where you can rent paddle boats to go around the ponds south of the beach area. These are those two seater thingamajiggies where you sit down and use your feet to pedal some paddles that propel the boat. It is good exercise and a nice quiet way to pass the afternoon.
The rentals used to be pretty cheap ($10 an hour or so) but I have not used them in years so the price may be higher now.
Fair Haven Beach is a well maintained beach which is about 200 yards wide along the lake and about 100 yards deep ( all the way back to the parking lot).
There are some picnic areas right behind the beach area and pavillions you can rent for family gatherings.
The beach has several sets of restrooms and a full bathhouse with showers.
The warm season is fairly short along the southern shore of Lake Ontario and cool breezes can whip up at a moments notice even on the hottest days. Swimming is allowed and safeguarded during a portion of the summer months. The land under the water is somewhat pebbly but not too uncomfortable to walk on.
