 | Greece Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 18 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (18) My father's relatives own this place. (so I am biased). The building is modern italian looking with the rounded arches over the doors and windows. The menu is American-Italian mix: from Broiled Haddock to Clams Milano; from Seared Scallops to Shrimp fra diavolo; from Chicken Fingers to Ravioli. The inside is split into several rooms separated with foliage and pillars. When it is crowded it can be a bit noisy because the rooms are large and high-cielinged. There is a pond and fountain for atmosphere. They cater often to local businesses, anniversaries and weddings.

Off the backend of Bill Gray's Restaurant, you will see a couple of side-sliding windows and the sign ABBOTTS. That's the place to stop. They have some of the smoothest whipped ice cream you have ever tasted. And it has a texture and taste distinctly different (and in my opinion, better) than Carvel or Tastee for example. Vanilla in a dish with a topping of chocolate sprinkles will do me just fine, thank you. In the winter, you can go into Bill Gray's and access the Abbotts section of the building but in the summer, the outside service is quicker usually and a lot less noisy. $3 will get you a mound of ice cream and if that isn't enough for you then dig into your wallet and go for a banana split or double sundae or one of their humongous specialty dishes. Very nice restaurant for the whole family. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Most men wear collared shirt and pants but I have seen some come in with teeshirt, shorts and sandals. There are tables and booths, dark wood; no table cloths, paper napkins. It is nice in the summer with the air conditioning but can be just a tad chilly in the winter because the main entrance lets cold outside air directly into the dining area. They have an extensive lunch and dinner menu which you can see at the website below. I love their Carolina Chicken Salad: "Chicken tenders lightly fried, fresh diced tomatoes, sugared pecans, premium Wisconsin cheddar cheese and applewood smoked bacon on a bed of fresh romaine and spring greens. Served with honey mustard dressing." Throw in a Double Chocolate cakelette with vanilla ice cream and a cup of coffee and I am a happy camper. The staff is very friendly and always seem to be glad that we came in. The food is served as ordered and fairly quickly. You can have a great meal for under $20 including tax and tip. If you want one of the best tasting submarine sandwiches in Western New York State or one of the most delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies, then stop into DiBella's. It is 1950s decor with booths and tile floors, globe lights from tinplate ceilings. It is counter service (so you don't have to pay a tip). Make your order, select hot or cold, pay your money and in five minutes you can be eating a special sandwich. You can select from capicola, ham, turkey, roastbeef, tuna, or veggie; choose your condiments (oil, mayonaisse, ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, peppers); select a cheese topping. They have several bread types and sizes and all are made right in the store. The cost is about $5 for a medium size sandwich or if you are really hungry, get a large for $7. We usually get a large then split it between the two of us. Theme: AmericanAddress: 2540 Ridgeway AvenuePhone: 585-225-8440Directions: just east of Long Pond, in the Ridgeway strip mall

The Olympia Family Restaurant offers a great menu: American favorites as well as Greek specialties. The restaurant is diner style with a counter/stool section, a table/chairs section and a section of booths along the windows. It is very open and well-lit. The tables are wood and formica and the booths have adequate padding. The staff is friendly; part family and part local help. The service is fast on most evenings (Friday night fish-fry is a bit hectic). They serve delicious food, hot and steamy. The prices are reasonable for the Rochester area. Ample parking is available but access off the busy roads is a bit difficult. If you like mac and cheese or a hamburger or a soup and salad, they can whip up that for you. If you like tsatziki, bread and olives you can get that too. Want a quick pita sandwich and melitzana salata? coming right up! And the best desserts ever... Baklava, Yaourti me meli, and Pavlidis chocolates . Stop in and treat yourself to some Baklava and Greek coffee. The cuisine in this restaurant has changed over the years. It used to be one of the better Italian Restaurants in the Greece area (and still is a good one) but now provides a more rounded menu with seafood and Chicken French and Pork Ribs being added to the normal pasta items. It is a fairly small restaurant with a bar, a dining area and a banquet area that serves as a second dining area on busy evenings. The atmosphere is quiet and reserved with a lot of red and gold in the decor. Collared shirt and long pants are the dress and tie also if you can find one rolled up in your sock drawer. The staff is friendly but quiet. They are attentive to your needs, anticipating when you want service and providing it readily. The service itself is fairly quick except on holiday weekends when the place is normally packed. The price is a little on the steep side with a dinner going for $30 not including drink and tip. But the portions are good sized and you normally will be takinghome a doggy bag. The food is always cooked to my taste (medium well on the steak please) and tastes delicious. If you are in a hurry and want a quick pick-me-up in the morning, then you can't beat this. Dunkin Donuts has installed a drive-thru so you can rev up and yell an order of pastries and a hot cup of joe and they'll sack it for you and you pay and go. Just that quick. The coffee is not Starbucks but it is decent and the doughnuts are light and fresh ("baked this morning" is their motto). And their choices now include lattes and frozen lattes for summer and several teas. Not very big on the outside, yet it opens out and back into adjoining store space to have three rooms of dining. Center room is where all the locals sit and chat at the counter or small booths. East room is the large booths for groups of people. West room is the table and chair room for families and kids. We have been going to this restaurant for probably the last 20 years off-and-on. And we always get our money's worth. The cuisine has changed a bit over the years as the owners tried to find what the best fit was for the customers. Originally(if i remember correctly) it served mostly Greek dishes. Then later it tried Italian meals. Now it has turned to my favorites.... good old American food like mom used to make. The main entrees are: roast beef, mashed potatoes, meat loaf, fried chicken, pork chops and ribs, stuffed cabbage, liver and onions, beef and noodles. They still make some of the ethnic desserts like baklava (sp?) and italian ice, but the in-house favorite is their rice pudding. They also serve goodies from the local bakery. They always have a good selection of daily specials and soups-of-the-day. The place is easy to get into during the day, but you better get there before 5'oclock for dinner or expect to wait in line. And they don't take Visa or MasterCard..... strictly cash and carry.

(This area was originally in the Charlotte neighborhood but was incorporated into Greece as the acquisition designated as Ward 1). People are there of all age groups and genre: families, young first-daters, hot-rodders, older bikers (looking to eat not drink), me. And they all have one thing in mind.... fast access to meat and taters. So you step up to the low counter (waiters/waitresses are behind the counter on a lower level) and you place your order and they yell to the cook (guy with greasy apron 10 feet behind them next to this huge grill). By the time you get your wallet out to pay, they are already filling your tray with the food you ordered. Squirt a little ketchup and mustard and tong out some pickle chips from the brine barrel and go find a table/booth inside or a picnic table outside. It is the Rochester version of the restaurant in Happy Days (movie/TV-show). It is a local landmark.... people say "yeah, it's down by schallers" and you know where they are talking about. And the food is actually good (if you don't mind a bit of grease). Fast service with freshly cooked food. Large portions at a reasonable (but not cheap) price.

Their normal Pizza is a bit too thin in the crust and a bit too greasy in the sauce. But they do have a lot of choices of toppings at little extra cost. And they have added a "deep dish" version which solves the crust part but then the body of the pizza is a bit chewy. To augment their customer base, the company has expanded to include bread sticks of several varieties and chicken wings too. We go here when they offer coupons because they give the most food for the cheapest price in town (as far as pizzas go). The stores themselves are counter service. Basically order, pick-up and take home. The stores are clean and bright and the staff are too.
