This secluded beach (accessible by boat) is part of the areas protected by the Thousand Island Land Trust which is an attempt to keep these natural sites as pristine and uncontaminated as possible.
If you are going to visit here, please leave no trash behind nor damage any of the flora in the area. It is bad enough that the oil and gas from the many motor boats visiting the area have already done considerable damage to the crustaceans on the shore and the fish in the shallows.

Address: west shore of Grindstone Island
The roads on the island have names but little pavement.... they are mostly dirt and gravel, many with weeds in the center. Old cars, farm trucks, jalopies, new ATVs and motorcycles are the primary means of getting around the island. The whole island is only 5 miles long and 16 miles in circumference. Not a lot of places to drive.
The vehicles have been ferried over in the past and are left there all year round.

Saturday nights during the summer; everyone heads over to the Dodge Hall.
A couple dozen people spend a pleasant evening together there listening to music and dancing. Often it is DJ music, sometimes it is a local band from the mainland, and once in a while the crowd is whooping and stomping to square dance music and country fiddlers.
So, if you are on the island on Saturday night, I'll bet I know where you'll be too.
