Along these trails, you have a good chance of encountering wildlife. Just be careful of rattlesnakes

Speed Traps Going to Harriman State...

by harrimanhikers Updated Feb 4, 2006

Along Route 17 and on Seven Lakes Drive (as well as other roads in the park) obey all locally posted speed limits.

The small towns along the way as well the park rangers in the park frequently monitor traffic with radar and write speeding tickets with some zeal.

Be especially aware that in Sloatsburg, NY the posted speed limit along Rt. 17 is 35 mph once you start going thru town, (dropping from 45 mph) and once you turn onto Seven Lakes Drive it drops to 25 mph. Once you are actually in the park, the speed limit is 40 mph.

Dont say you were weren't warned!
