nice small-town diner
1 more image

Cozy little, small-town diner with friendly waitress and few customers. We stopped in for soup, sandwiches and coffee. (Vegetable soup, Turkey Club sandwich). Cost about $10 per person.

The diner had tables and booths (we chose both for more privacy... acrophobic about sitting in middle of a room). There were few people in there even though it was a little before lunchtime. Service was fast and the food was good. Place was very clean but everything looked a bit old (clean but old).

Decent enough place to stop for a quick bite. Casual dress.

widely spread communities around the lake

Lake Luzerne has changed its name and its constituency over the 190 years of its existence. Communities that were part of the town have gone into other areas like Glen Falls or Queensbury.

Today Lake Luzerne is township over these communities:

Warnings and Dangers

pretty safe

just be aware of who is near you

Lake Luzerne rates lower than average on the crime risk scale; it is a pretty safe area.
There is one crime category at the average risk level: Theft. Some of the homes in the area are summer cottages and they are sometimes vandalized in the off-seasons.
There is only one sexual offender registered in the area.

In any tourist region, there are predators who key on tourists as victims. So don't act/dress like a tourist and reduce your risks. Use the same precautions you use at home: lock doors; keep a good eye on the children; don't go places alone at night. The hotel staff can tell you if there are any places to avoid and can put your values in a safebox.
Use common sense and have a safe, happy time in Lake Luzerne. We did.
