Favorite thing: New Paltz is loaded with the most beautiful foliage during the Fall. Everywhere you look you will see brillants reds, yellows and oranges. I love to take the kis outside and have them pick out some leaves for making a collage. If you catch the leaves at the right time of day you will get some fantastic pictures of the leaves against the blue sky.
Fondest memory: Hiking at Minnewaska with Patrick on a warm October day.

Favorite thing: Every Sunday during the warmer months of the year an area about half a block from the intersection of Main and Chestnut, is turned into a Farmer's Market. I am all about supporting local farmers so I take every chance I get to buy their produce. The Farmer's Market also has other vendors including florist, wineries and a local goat cheese producer. This last trip to the Farmer's Market was great. I think it was dog day since everyone seemed to be waling their dog, either that or they were walking their dog and stumbled upon the market. There was also a local maple syrup maker, he had the most wonderful maple sugar candy I've ever had. I bought some lovely Gala apples and a bunch of flowers for my mother. This years Farmer's Market will close at the end of the business day on October 29th. Till then you can visit on Sundays from 10 AM to 3 PM, rain or shine.

Favorite thing: A few words that don't fit somewhere else on here.
Hotels. Other than the Mohonk Mountain house I personally would avoid all other hotels in this town. B&B's being the exception. Newburgh and Poughkeepsie offer much better options here and are not that far away.

Favorite thing: There are some parts that are easy, others little hard, but if I did it anyone can do it.
Just have to be a little careful, since in the woods everything looks the same and it's easy to get lost. We tried to come down the same way we went up, but failed. Couldn't find the way... We managed to get down and had great time.

Favorite thing: If you want to see breathtaking views you need to do a little hiking and climb rocks to get to the top. It could be a little rough and you have to be adventurous to reach the top. I'm a little afraid of heights but did pretty well. Once you get to the top, you just forget everything and enjoy the beautiful view. I just didn't want to come down and wanted to stay there sitting at the highest rock and enjoy the view.

Favorite thing: For best info on New Paltz -go right to their website.
www.newpaltz.org
Get all the info on lodging and also Ulster county websites for other towns.
TIP: If you are going to book a B&B I suggest going with one that has a website to view grounds and rooms. Had a bad experience once when I didnt!
Fondest memory: Being there in the Fall to pick apples, view the glorious foliage at top of Mohonk, breathe the crisp air, attend the Crafts fair Labor Day weekend, and walk the narrow streets to browse in oldbookshops and boutiques or view the historic houses on Hugeunot St.

Well I have finally decided to start making my page for New Paltz. Home of one of the SUNY schools and the local hotspot for arts and things there is much to do here.
